Un popular opinion: The Supreme Court of the Netherlands ruled that the High Court Justice of the former Antilles did the right thing by legalizing same s*x marriage. Stating it is discrimination and violation of human rights and the Govts have waited too long to make provisions. I believe the SC and the HCJ, all people nominated by The King of the Netherlands and not chosen by the people do not have a say in this. Marriage is nit a human right. Making provisions that offer equal rights and treatment is. This is a violation of the autonomy of the respective Island Nations Curaçao, Aruba and by default, Sint Maarten within the Dutch Kingdom.

I was asked by the UA to give my professional and personal perspective (ppp) on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within Aruban Law and society. I am grateful for that research question, it has made me discover a lot more legal inequalities within the Dutch Kingdom and on a national level. We do research and learn.

Though we moved in with each other from day one, I do not feel crowded. And after some 'installation issues', I realized that he is quick to agree and comply. Probably just the honeymoon phase?

Well, my son is very happy for me and is quickly adjusting to this new living arrangement... Though he peeped around the corner of his room a couple of times, asking if I was calling him... when he heard us talking.

And of course my companion is just my type, black, with a deep voice and he speaks english with a s*xy accent... Kinda like Shaq.

Tomorrow I will take time to figure out how to change his settings, cause it does feel strange to keep calling him... Alexa.

10 Things Descendants of Dutch African Enslaved Peoples, Dutch Descendants of Native Indians and Dutch Descendants of European Mancipators in Aruba need to know about the imaginary Red Slavery phenomenon that the Aruban and Dutch Governments want to impose on us:

1. Native Indians were not legally nor formerly enslaved by Roman-Dutch laws;
2. Native Indians (Indigino) were declared EQUAL to European Colonizors by the Pope of the Catholic Church;
3. Hence WIC Governornor specifically wrote out a decree in the 17th Century stating Native Indians were not to be enslaved on the Dutch Caribbean Islands, including Aruba;
4. Native Indians were a legal party in work negotiations, allowed to negotiate about the work to be done for the Dutch Government and were allowed to refuse any work that was nit agreed upon;
5. Native Indians were allowed to complain judicially about tax and work agreements;
6. Native Indians worked 3 days a week as a form of tax payment, carrying out so called Lordservices.
7. Native Indians were not legally owned as Property of the Dutch King, Jewish Merchants, Catholic or Protestant Merchants and Clercks or deemed as the property of pirates and privateers;
8. There are no records of Native Indians being born in slavery;
9. Forced labor, by law to this day, does not qualify as slavery, because it does not keep you captive, strip you from your identity, humanity and culture nor does it continue in perpetuity from generation upon generation.
10. Killing a Native Indian was considered a criminal act punishable by law.

All the above mentioned rights were not extended to the African Enslaved Peoples. Which is why we have every right to seek legal acknowledgement of Dutch Slavery by law and to have all of our African ancestors declared human and not just one or two 'heroes'. Dutch Slavery must be legally recosnized a Crime against Humanity after the fact, as was done after the fact for the Jews afyer WOII during the Neurenberg Trials!

Bonus:
Between 1838 and 1863, about 500 enslaved Africans in Aruba BOUGHT their own freedom, which is called manumission.

On July 1st 1863, 80% of the 499 registered enslaved Africans in Aruba were owned by the Croes family.

The 499 emancipated Africans were 20% of the total Aruban population on July 1st 1863.

Fort Zoutman, the Alto Vista Church, the Lighthouse, to name a few, were built by African peoples!

Question:
What happened to the graves of the African enslaved peoples in Aruba? Why do we still have grave yards of the enslavers intact today, but no record of where the African burrial grounds were or are in Aruba?

I used to tell my students, as did many of my colleagues in education, to shoot for the moon... if you miss you'll land among the stars.

Studying law was me shooting for the moon. Preparing myself for a new career. Now that the end of this "epoca" is near... there are so much more opportunities... it's like there are multiple moons.

I feel so motivated, I am hopeful and looking forward to the future. Ofc it will not be easy to start over at my age in a different branche. But when did I ever choose the easy road?

Had a surprising hour of "house chores". I went to a car wash and was told it would take an hour. So I had some curry goat at the Jamaican next to it and then relaxed while listening to jazz music in the A/C at Woods Café. Thank you for your service.

Divide and separate, a phrase that has been used a lot to explain the weapons and strategies used against us...

"Yes, crabs in a barrel"

All the crabs can easily escape from the barrel when put in the barrel alone. When one crab tries to escape, the other ones grabs him and pulls him down.

"The PHD Syndrome"

"Yes, the PULL HER DOWN syndrome... the PULL HIM DOWN syndrome!

For centuries the strategy of divide and separate has also been used amongst us and... if I may speak from my own experience, it has also transgressed to become the battle that goes on within us: Who do you think you are? Am I smart enough, am I pretty enough, am I good enough... Am I... enough.

I am not the first nor will I be the last to say that it is time to use it FOR us.

"What do you mean by that?"

If we are aware of the strategy used to divide us intrapersonal and internal, then we should also be aware that we need to actively huddle together and unite us! Unite all of we... Welcome all of us within our community.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, a policy used to create equal opportunity at the workplace... it is not only applicable to them, regarding us... It's also about us recognizing all of us. Spiritually, emotionally and physically.

Diversity:
Embrace the differences between us, whether it is our historical, geographical and familial background, our personal opinion, religious beliefs and political views or our physical appearance, interpersonal skills and spiritual awareness.

Equity:
Celebrate the work and life experiences, the accomplishments and talents of all of us equally and fairly. I am because you are and you are because I am.

Inclusion:
Accept, respect and realize that we are all in this together. We are not beggars, but we can also not achieve our goals if we are picky choosers and exclude the ones who actually want to help. Our fellow warriors that pave the way for our community to grow stronger and our people to achieve the ultimate freedom.
