Hello and welcome to confusion!
I was just on Insta watching reels and a Turkish one appeared with a lady showing how many layers of clothing she was wearing, including socks. So apparently "corap" is Turkish ๐น๐ท for sock, which is also used in ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ท๐ธ๐ท๐ด๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ง๐ฌ๐ง๐ฆ๐ญ๐ท languages. In Greek ๐ฌ๐ท they say "kaltsa" for sock, which is an Italian ๐ฎ๐น and the word "tsourapia" is the very thick and wollen socks that people wear either over the normal socks or they used to wear in the past (pic below). In ๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฐ "Kallรงina/Kalci" are the thick wollen socks, whereas in ๐ง๐ฌ "kaltsi" are legwarmers. Those thick wollen socks are also called "terlikia/tarlici/terlitsi" in ๐ฌ๐ท๐ท๐ด๐ง๐ฌ. The word comes from ๐น๐ท "terlik", but terlik in Turkish means slippers! In ๐ฌ๐ท๐ง๐ฌ for slippers they say "pantofles/pantofi" which is again an Italian word ๐ฎ๐น.
The word in Turkish for those thick wollen socks is "Patik" which comes from the Greek ๐ฌ๐ท word "patao" which means "to tread". And in ๐ท๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ง๐ฆ "patiki/e" means sneakers ๐ whereas in ๐ง๐ฌ "patuk" means shoe.
