সাধারণ থাকাটা একটা অসাধারণ ব্যাপার। আরো বেশি চমৎকার ব্যাপার হলো সাধারণ থেকে খুশি থাকা। সাধারণত আমরা সবাই সাধারণ। অসাধারণ একটা ভিন্নতা। মফস্বলের একটা স্কুলে বেশির ভাগ স্টুডেন্টই এ প্লাস পায় না। এ প্লাস পাওয়াটা একটা অসাধারণ এচিভমেন্ট। এ বা এ মাইনাস পাওয়াটা একটা সাধারণ এচিভমেন্ট। কিন্তু শহরের নামি কলেজে পড়তে হলে একটা ছাত্রকে এস এস সি -তে এ প্লাস পেয়ে আসতে হবে। অথচ এইচ এস সি-তে এদের অনেকেই এ প্লাস পায় না।

বাবা মা চায় তার বাচ্চা এ প্লাস পাক। ভাল কলেজে ও পরে ভাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পড়ুক। দেখা যায় সেই বাবা মা নিজের জীবনে তেমন ভাল কলেজ বা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পড়ার সুযোগ পায় নি। কারণ তারা অতি মেধাবি ছিল না। সাধারণ বাবা মা চায় তার সন্তান মেডেল জিতুক। নিজেদের সব পরাজয়ের গ্লানি মুছতে মনের অজান্তে বাচ্চাকে চাপে রাখে। প্রলোভন দেখায় এ প্লাস পেলে এটা কিনে দেব সেটা কিনে দেব।

একজন মুদি দোকানদার বাবা চান না তার বাচ্চা বড় হয়ে এই দোকানে বসুক। তিনি চান তার ছেলে বা মেয়ে বড় ডিগ্রি নিয়ে বড় অফিসে বড় পদে চাকরি করুক। সেজন্য বাবা প্রতিদিন ভোরে দোকান খোলেন এবং অনেক রাত অবধি ব্যাবসা করেন। কেউ যদি কৌতুক বশতও বলে যে অনেক তো করলে দোকানদারি এবার ছেলেকে বুঝিয়ে দিয়ে বাকি জীবন আরাম করো। সে চেতে যায়, দুচার বাক্য শুনিয়ে দেয় গালিসমগ্র থেকে।

আবার মিডিল ইস্টের প্রবাসি বাবাও এটাই চান। ছেলে মেয়ে মানুষ হবে। কখনো যেন তাকে লেবার ভিসায় মিডিল ইস্টে আসতে না হয়। রক্ত পানি করে রোজগার করে দেশে পাঠাতে পাঠাতে বুড়ো বয়সে যখন দেশে আসে একটু শান্তির খোঁজে তখন সেই সরকারি অথবা বেসরকারি মেডিকেল কলেজ থেকে এম বি বি এস পাস করা বাচ্চার বেতন শুনে কপালে হাত রাখা ছাড়া কোন উপায় নেই।

দীর্ঘ দিন দিন মজুরি করা বাবা যখন দেখেন তার ছেলে পদার্থবিজ্ঞানে অনার্স মাস্টার্স করে প্রাইভেট কলেজে লেকচার দেয় আর মাস শেষে এত টাকা বেতন পায় যে বাসা ভাড়াও হয় না তখন সেই বাবার এমন অবস্থা হয় যেন জীবন থেকে এতগুলো বছর ডাকাতি হয়ে গেছে।

দেশের সব চেয়ে নামি দামি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ভর্তি করার পর যে ছেলে আট বছরেও ডিগ্রি নিয়ে বেরুতে পারে না। ঈদও যে করে ক্যাম্পাসে। গাজা খায়। চাঁদাবাজি করে। সেই ছেলেটিও এক সময় বাপ মার বকা খেয়ে পড়তো। দুই দুইটা গোল্ডেন এ প্লাস তার ঝুলিতে। অথচ সে ছাত্র রাজনীতিতে এতটাই ডুবে গেছে যে সে এখন আর ফ্যামিলি বলতে কিচ্ছু বুঝে না।

এর চেয়ে সাধারণ জীবন কি ভাল না? একটা সহজ সুন্দর জীবনকে নষ্ট করতে উচ্চাশাই অন্তরায়। ষোলো সতের বছর পড়িয়ে ছেলে যদি মাসে তাই কামায় যা বাবা সাধারণভাবে চলেই কামাইতে পারেন তবে এই অতিরিক্ত মেহনতের কি লাভ? কিছু কিছু ছেলে আছে তারা মনে করে বাবা মা তাদেরকে যে পড়াচ্ছে এটা যেন পড়ার নামে সাজা দিচ্ছে। পড়াটা যদি সাজা হয়ে থাকে তবে দোকানে পাঠিয়ে দিলে সেটা কি হতো? তবে আঠারো হতেই বাবা যদি মিডিল ইস্টে লেবার ভিসায় পাঠিয়ে দিতেন তবে সেটা কি হতো? দিনমজুরের ছেলে পদার্থ বিজ্ঞান পড়া যদি সাজা হয় তবে এর চেয়ে যদি সেও দিনমজুর হতো তবে কি তাও সাজা মনে হতো?

জীবনকে সাজা মনে করাই আসলে একটা সাজা। বিগ পিকচারে আমরা যদি প্রত্যেকটা ঘটনাকে দেখি তবে আর জীবনকে সাজা মনে হবে না। প্রত্যেক পেশাই কিন্তু সমাজে স্ব স্ব স্থানে অপরিসীম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। আসুন সেটা একটু বিগ পিকচারে ভাবি। মনে করেন আপনি আপনার এলাকার একজন চাউলের আড়তের ব্যাবসায়ী। আপনার গুদামে এক কোটি টাকার চাল আছে। কালকে প্রতি ক্যাটাগরির চালের দাম ৫% বেড়ে গেল। এখন আপনি যদি আগের দামে বিক্রি করেন তবে কিন্তু আপনার লস নাই। আর নতুন দামে বিক্রি করলে আপনার অতিরিক্ত ৫% লাভ। ৫ লাখ টাকা কোরবানি করতে পারবেন?

যদি এই ৫ লাখ টাকা আপনি কোরবানি করতে পারেন তবে আপনার মত ব্যাবসায়ী আমাদের সমাজে খুব দরকার। এতে সমাজে শান্তি আসবে। ঠিক এভাবে যদি আপনি অন্য যে কোন পেশায় থাকেন না কেন যদি ইনসাফ বজায় রেখে চলতে পারেন তবে আপনি এই সমাজের সূর্য সন্তান। আর যদি আপনি লোভ করেন তবে তার প্রতিক্রিয়ায় কিন্তু বাকি সব পেশাজীবিরা দুই টাকা হলেও বেশি দাম দাবি করবে। অর্থাৎ সহজ কথায় আমাদের প্রতিটি লেনদেন পুরো সমাজের অর্থনীতিতে একটা আলোড়ন সৃষ্টি করে। সব আলোড়ন এক হয়ে কখনো কখনো বড় বড় সংকট তৈরি করে।

এজন্য আসুন বাচ্চাকে বড় ডিগ্রিওয়ালা হবার শিক্ষা দেওয়ার আগে সততার শিক্ষা দেই। কারণ এই কথা দিন শেষে আপনিও বলবেন, Honesty is the best policy.
