২১ ফেব্রুয়ারি আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস ২০২৩।
দেশে ও দেশের বাইরে অবস্থানরত সবাইকে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের শুভেচ্ছা। আজকে থেকে ৭১ বছর পূর্বে ঠিক এই দিনে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তরুণ শিক্ষার্থীরা বাংলা ভাষা রক্ষার জন্য প্রাণ দিয়েছিল। পাকিস্তান সরকার জোর করে উর্দু ভাষাকে পূর্ব বাংলার রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে ঘোষণা করে। কিন্তু বাংলার দামাল ছেলেরা তা মেনে নিতে পারেনি। তারা রাষ্ট্রভাষা বাংলা করার দাবি জানায়। ১৪৪ ধারা ভঙ্গ করে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আমতলায় ছাত্র-জনতা আন্দোলন ও মিছিল চালায়। মিছিলের উপর নির্মমভাবে বর্বর হত্যাকান্ড চালানো হয়। সালাম, রফিক, জব্বার ও বরকত সহ হাজারো প্রাণের বিনিময়ে আমরা সেদিন বাংলা ভাষাকে রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে পেয়েছিলাম। সকল ভাষা শহীদের কে শ্রদ্ধাঞ্জলি ও মনের অন্তস্থল থেকে হাজারো সালাম।
