Forming part of an ongoing interest in private and public spaces made by and for people, and conflicts between the individual and society. Initial ideas began on Wright's residency at the British School at Athens in 2016 which have since developed into a body of work that draws out relationships between shared identities, cultures and trade as well as individualism, society and responsibility, with particular focus on an Athenian engineer and his vacant Shopping Centre 'Rea'.

Slow Reading Club (SRC) is a semi-fictional reading group initiated by Bryana Fritz and Henry Andersen in late 2016. The group deals in constructed situations for collective reading. The Grey Book
Annie Naskyd

€22,50 available in store or DM

Published by SO-RI, Antwerp, 2022.

Printed in Black, Fluor. Orange, Green and Purple.
19.5x26cm, 52 pages.

From Bo Wielders' selection of titles 'non-cities inside cities', taken from our temporary bookshop for the reading room.

The grey book delves into the principles of permaculture gardening and how they can be applied to contemporary urban design. It highlights the issue of soulless urban spaces that are filled with decorative trees and plants which fail to contribute to the local ecosystem.

Annie created a series of graphic illustrations that correspond to the sourced text in the book. She constructed each image using 10 distinct 'pixels,' placing them one by one until the picture was ‘complete’.

The bookshop and reading room are open until 21:00.

The project involves a range of publishing, archiving, print and distribution practices by artists, curators, designers and art workers; bringing these into relation and dialogue via the realisation of the bookshop and reading room at Violet.

The space aims to open up new connections through live processes of encounter and exchange around printed matter, where visitors can engage and think with the material in the space. There are opportunities to connect, correspond and collaborate during the public programme and over the four-week duration of the project.

David Senior, then bibliographer at the Museum of Modern Art Library in New York, selected a wide range of exhibition-related ephemera from the Library’s collection – invitations, flyers and posters from the 1960s to the present – presenting them here as an historically overlooked but integral aspect of exhibitions. Often the first point of contact between the audience and artist(s), such items form part of an essential lexicon for graphic designers, curators, art historians and anyone interested in the event-based nature of showing art. Filled with full-colour reproductions of numerous examples from the MoMA Library collection, the book also includes new essays by Gustavo Grandal Montero, Will Holder, Antony Hudek, Angie Keefer, Clive Phillpot, David Senior and Suzanne Stanton.

When Sarah Horn began photographing hotel frontages in Blackpool, UK, little did she know that her collection would result in a unique archive of coastal architecture, vernacular typography and unconscious poetry. Never have the mundane dreams of escape, leisure and pastime seemed so compelling and poignant. This book is an essential resource for sociologists of tourism, typography collectors and those who, when everyone looks at the sunset, turn the other way.

A book published in spring 2020 by Peter Foolen Editions, documenting 27 years of walks made by herman de vries in the Steigerwald, Eschenau, Northern Bavaria.
