Pleased to announce the upcoming artist at The Wunderwall, Quinten De Bruyn. Welcome to join us at the opening next Saturday October 11th from 1 - 6 pm.

Quinten De Bruyn (b. 1984, Dendermonde) is a Belgian painter currently based in Madrid, mainly working on small-scale pieces in oil and tempera on paper. While much of his work is intimate in size, he occasionally shifts to larger canvases when the subject demands it. His style fluidly alternates between figurative and abstract, without a clear preference for either.

Drawing inspiration from diverse sources—vintage magazines, newspapers, and the internet—De Bruyn merges these found images with his imagination or personal photographs, gradually constructing new and unique compositions. His creative process is experimental and non-linear.

De Bruyn is distinguished by his vibrant, bold color palette and the compositional tension in his works. He often sets aside unfinished paintings, allowing ideas to mature over time. These works may re-emerge weeks, months, or even years later to receive their final brushstrokes.

Mark your calendars for the next artist’s show at The Wunderwall! Victoria Palacios will be presenting new work from 7.09 - 06.10.2024.

Victoria Palacios, born in 1992 in Rennes, France, now lives and works in Brussels. She studied at the School of Graphic Research in Brussels, 2019. Palacios is a multidisciplinary artist, weaving narratives between her different media. Like an orchestra conductor, she engages in the interrelation of images and works with language and writing. The ghostly and theatrical stories she makes her own are deployed in pictorial, performative, sculptural and sonic forms. In Shanghai, Victoria Palacios is represented by Gallery Vacancy.

Edouard Devriendt’s motive for image depiction is primarily based on personal feelings and desires. A search for solace and a way for the artist to bid farewell to affecting fragments in his life. His smartphone being his primary tool, he zooms in, extracts fragments from videos, captures online content and generates images. These images are then translated on to canvas with oil paint. Edouard frequently explores themes such as sharpness versus vagueness, distance juxtaposed with closeness, silence contrasted with loudness, and static versus movement, all of which serve as catalysts to inspire a purposeful approach to his work.

Edouard Devriendt’s Wunderwall is on view at the gallery until the first of September.
