Addicted to old abandoned buildings and photography....
It all started in 2011 when I went to the small village of "Doel". I really was amazed by the atmosphere of abandoned buildings. They gave me the feeling that I was gone from the normal world. Exploring these "things".... Thinking about how it used to be back in time.... i started to make pictures.... The last years the addiction became stro
This is not a goodbye but a see-you-later...
I’ve decided to take a short break from posting on social media.
I value our connection, and I want to assure you that I will return with fresh perspectives, renewed energy, and exciting content. I look forward to reconnecting with you all soon.
The three-storey church... 🕊️🙏🏻⛪
This monastery church was built on top of the crypt from the early 1900s. What was special is that this church has several floors. 🏢
This building stood abandoned for many years until it was put up for sale. 💲 In the meantime, the plans have been completed and a new destination has been found for this beautiful church.
The Corrupt Office Desk...
A while ago I posted the bedroom of this abandoned house that was once owned by the famous Vasconcelos family.
Today I would like to take you to the office where various transactions will certainly have been arranged.
What a piece of abandoned history again.....
One crumbling staircase at a time...
We carefully entered this abandoned school building and we did not dare to step beyond that.
The floor was made of wood (or what was left of it) and the water had already found its way inside.
What kind of place was this?🏘️
This is the question I still ask myself today. Parts of it looked like a farm 🐄🌽🐐and others looked like some kind of event hall🎉. Very strange.
If anyone knows please let me know in the comments.
Forest Trunk... 🌳🚗
In the middle of a forest surrounded by many other cars, this car was waiting to be completely eaten by nature. A slow process, but nature eventually takes over (almost) everything.
An old and abandoned theater... 🎭
Somewhere in a quiet town there is this beautiful old theater on the corner of the street. 🌇
This ancient theater was built by a cooperative society. The performance hall is large and open, 110 square meters in size, with a good stage. 👨🏻🎤
According to the legend of the chapel....
at this place, the image of Our Lady of Lapa appeared to a little shepherd girl, under a rock. The news spread quickly and pilgrimages began at the site.
This chapel from the 1650s stands out for its originality, as it was built into a rock. Several inscriptions were engraved on the ceiling.
The corrupt Vasconcelos family...👨👩👧👧
With roots in politics and once one of the richest and most influential in this Portuguese region.... 🇵🇹
But due to keeping certain matters secret and the corrupt life, they had to flee the country in the 1980s.🏃🏻♂️
Now this villa stands abandoned in the middle of a residential area.🏚️
The false death houses...⚰️💀
They served to "assure oneself of a certain death". The dead were laid out here for at least 36 hours before they were buried.✝️
From 1872 onwards, every cemetery was also required to have a space to keep the dead until the time of burial. After all, anyone who had died of a contagious disease was better not to lie in that state at home.🏡
Do you also love old meters, dials, and switches?
The rusty colors make every detail beautiful and unique.
This old building housed an old yet powerful generator with intricate dials and switches that reflect innovation and hard work. Each detail embodies an era when machinery was durable. 🏭
Jesus Christ superstar...✝️
After 2 years of construction, the community moved to this beautiful church around 1860. This soon turned out to be too small. Due to the cracks that endangered the stability and safety of the building, a new church ⛪ was relocated.
Today, fortunately, this church is a protected heritage site and can only be visited by appointment.👌🏻
I didn't miss the shot...🎱
A beautiful room where a pool table is waiting to be played...
While we walked into this abandoned villa we were welcomed by a music 🎶 band and fireworks 🎇 (it was Easter). Never before have we received such a nice and warm welcome... A location and arrival you will never forget.
The old monastery ...
A villa with centuries-old roots... ❤️
..which preserves a beautiful history that is intertwined with that of the families who had their home or spent their holidays here, but which now, despite its beauty.
The history of this building starts around 1720... The last owners tried to restore the villa by converting it into luxury residential units, but unfortunately this project was also not a success. 💔
This place is remote from everything...🌿🌱🌐
Maybe that is why it is such an incredibly beautiful place.
The monastery was founded at the beginning of this XVIII century by a group of hermits.
It is thought that in order to isolate themselves from the world, the hermits of the region first lived in caves and shelters, which were in fact Roman mines and are close to the current monument.
The monastery's first mass was celebrated in 1738. Services continued to take place in the monastery until the early 20th century.
Today everything is left to nature...🌱🌿🌤️
Some leftovers from a very impressive stairs of an abandoned Chateau 🏰...
The history of this place started in 1905 and the property has been abandoned since 1984. The costs to maintain the property were too high for the owner. Right now the building is in very poor condition.
This must have been one of the most dangerous explores I've done. The stairs were on the first floor and we really needed to climb up there to take this shot 📸.
Would you?
What would you like to ask a monk?
This monastery 🙏🏻was classified as a monument of public interest by the Ministry of Culture, but is still in a very poor condition. Built around 1580 and abandoned since 1834... You step straight into a piece of history 🕰️.
Deep within a vast farm is a small room filled with personal belongings that tell stories of the past. Abandoned yet full of memories, this reminds us that beauty can be found in everywhere.
These stairs were once walked by 💯's of children. The school 🏫 building they were part of was once an important place for the future of many people🧑🤝🧑🧑🤝🧑🧑🤝🧑.
🫣Do you find these places creepy or cool?🫣
While exploring 🔦 an abandoned hospital 🏥, we discovered a forgotten morgue and majestic church⛪. It's always surprising to me that such places are neglected.
Like it? Please give me a ❤ ! It is much appreciated. Or save it to support me.
Is this a turbine or a pump?
Urban exploration at its finest. This abandoned beauty once was a very important installation. I think it was used to pump water, but I'm absolutely not sure. So correct me if I'm wrong, please.
Please help me out with this one... I absolutely love the looks of this car but I don't know what type of brand it is? We found this car in the middle of the woods surrounded by many other amazing abandoned cars.
Witness the grandeur of a bygone era in this abandoned villa, where even the staircase tells its own story.
Chapelle de la police... - We found this amazing room on the first floor of an abandoned house. Definitely looks gorgeous if you ask me.
The chandelier chapel... - This gorgeous looking chapel is part of a house that is calcified as a historical landmark. That's also the reason why I think it's strange that this beautiful place is just left behind.
The peacock and the dog... - Somewhere behind this villa was in complete disrepair. There wasn't much to see (other than the bedroom) but these stairs did catch my attention. Real craftsmanship. Too bad it was just left behind.
Golden Rust... - I have posted a photo of this forest full of abandoned vintage cars several times. But I still think it's a great place... one with beautiful memories. Thank you Andy for showing us this point of view!
Double glazed window... - A manor where an entire facade had simply fallen over. Special to see and quite a unique experience to walk around in this time capsule. The old stroller must have been placed there by someone, but it was still a nice sight.
Let's stay in bed... - In a village where there were more abandoned buildings than inhabited ones, we found this beautiful bedroom. How long had it been abandoned?
