Inside the Guanyin shengmiao 觀音聖廟, a small local temple hidden away in one of the narrow alleys of China Town. Several of the small Chinese temples in Bangkok are on the verge of disappearing, because of limited financial support and lack of caretakers. However, others still enjoy great popularity and are supported by the local communities.
Prof. Christoph Anderl from GCBS just returned from a second research trip to Bangkok, documenting Chinese Guanyin temples serving local communities in the city. The temples were documented with more than 5.000 high-resolution photographs, 3D photographs and 3D videos. The materials will be published online in the framework of the FROGBEAR project.
