Happy Monday, y’all! This week I’m practicing gratitude and what better place to start than with my sister?
She has been my rock for some TIME and I have no words to fully express how grateful I am to have someone like her in my corner. To be transparent, we’ve always had issues being affectionate with one another. Hugs were sometimes awkward and we always followed up a loving comment with a funny jab. It could never be just love.
I still don’t know why we’ve been that way. Being raised by a single, stoic black mother? Maybe, but we’ve made GINORMOUS efforts to love on one another and support each other the way we need to be. Since I’ve moved back home, I’ve learned more about myself simply by being compassionate with my sister. In doing that, I’ve become more compassionate with myself.
Every day isn’t perfect and without disagreements, but we love each other and that’s all it comes back to. I love you, sis !
