What a magical and powerful experience to have been able to teach my class to a group of 10 children of different ages at the

Thank you for giving your students the opportunity to learn essential techniques for a healthy, peaceful life and the opportunity to learn tools to navigate difficult situations while remaining calm.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to meet these souls and to become a part of their journey.

so honoured to witness your growth, 4 years ago I met Dexie, so grateful to have met you, to learn from you and to grow together.

Super duper excited for these two months in my beautiful Island.

Teaching children all they need is already within them, how to relax in stressful situations, how to create a safe space for themselves, this is my biggest passion in life.

Every time I go, this project grows and evolves so much.
Looking forward to learn from the children, create a safe space for them and grow together.

Aquí algunos beneficios del mindfulness en niños:

^ Mejorar la capacidad de atención
^ Mejorar el rendimiento académico
^ Aumento de la empatia
^ Desarrollo de la consciencia sobre lo que sentimos y pensamos.

See you soon beautiful souls!

The Mindful Child goes virtual for everyone all over the world who speaks English, Spanish or Dutch.

For the presencial classes applies only for people living in Antwerp city.

Benefits of meditation for kids

• Improving sleep – this connects to the Alpha state we mentioned earlier. The more children practice meditation, the more easily they go to (and stay) asleep.

•Managing thoughts and feelings – if a child recognises that a thought or feeling is present and can express this in a mindful way, they won’t let it build up into a trauma/drama. This mindful awareness helps them seek help, accept that the feeling/thought isn’t a permanent state (so it will pass) – like closing down unhelpful apps on their phone. Remember the body will respond stressfully to a difficult feeling/thought so meditation is like a ‘reset’ button when a child is experiencing this.

• Building self-esteem – we learn through life how to know ourselves and our place in the world. We understand what we like/dislike and this affects our choices. Meditation brings awareness into our life so that we can choose and communicate who we are with confidence.

• Learning to relax – we assume kids should drop into bed exhausted at the end of a busy day. But we really need to teach them how to relax and switch off from study and other issues they can’t control. Meditation helps them to connect back into their body and breath so they can relax in the moment.

• Having more balanced energy – if children are always worrying/thinking then it uses up a lot of energy and activates stress. This is exhausting. If children struggle to cope they may feel ungrounded. Meditation helps kids to feel more grounded and that sense of stability brings in strength – mentally, emotionally and physically – to help them cope with transitions and change.

• Improved focus and concentration – there are now research studies that confirm that meditation activates parts of the brain we need for learning and study. A stressed brain can’t learn anything new, so the more we teach kids meditation to experience and recover from stress safely and peacefully, the more they can learn.

SPOTS LEFT FOR OUR LAST WEEK OF CAMP! Come join THE MINDFUL CHILD family! 🦋🦋🦋🦋

A little summary of our first 3 days.

This first 3 days have been nothing like I expected but MUCH MORE, I am learning to let go of planning to let go of control and to go with the flow of their energy, their needs combined with my passion and will to teach them or learn together how to be more mindful: about our breath, about our emotions, about our bodies, about interactions.

I AM SO GRATEFUL FIRST OF ALL FOR THE PARENTS AND THEIR TRUST IN ME.

FOR Julia Costi Madden my partner during this camp, she came as an angel to make this camp, this first project, to make it into more than I could have dreamt, her energy, presence, love, that extra extra extra mile she is putting because this is also HER project.

My hermana and best friend for making the food with so much love making sure everyone is happy!

Our main goal during this weeks is to teach children that they have in themselves the tools to calm down when their angry, sad frustrated.. not by pushing the feeling away but by finding a way to be okay with the feeling and not reacting to it, just observing it and slowly watching it disappear. To teach them that they are In control of their minds and not the other way around, that is okay to accept things as they are, its okay to feel and it feels so good to just let go and be.

I love each and one of this children, some of them I know from the moment I arrived in Antwerp some a year ago, some are family, some a few months back and some I met 3 days ago, they are all equally special and their energy is so.. so.. amazing.

THANK YOU

We as parents and teachers are here to give children valuable resources, tools, strategies, for them to use, What better tool then to learn at a very young age that just by being aware of your breath or by slowing it down you are able to cool down by yourself in a moment of sadness, anger or frustration.

Thank you Dexter for being yourself, filled with light, you are big part of The Mindful Child.

The Hundred Languages of Children

No way.
The hundred is there.
The child is made of one hundred. The child has a hundred languages
a hundred hands
a hundred thoughts
a hundred ways of thinking
of playing, of speaking.
a hundred, always a hundred
ways of listening
of marveling, of loving
a hundred joys
for singing and understanding
a hundred worlds to discover
a hundred worlds to invent
a hundred worlds to dream.
The child has a hundred languages (and a hundred hundred hundred more) but they steal ninety-nine.
The school and the culture separate the head from the body. They tell the child to think without hands to do without head
to listen and not to speak
to understand without joy
to love and to marvel
only at Easter and Christmas.
They tell the child
to discover the world already there and of the hundred
they steal ninety-nine.
They tell the child
that work and play
reality and fantasy
science and imagination
sky and earth
reason and dream
are things
that do not belong together.
And thus they tell the child
that the hundred is not there.
The child says
“No way – The hundred is there.”
