Am I right, or am I right?? 🥴 Moment of honesty here....I’ve struggled really hard with letting go of my house being so messy at times. I know it’s just a moment in time and one day I’ll wish for it back, but it still causes me stress. I need a nap and a housekeeper today 🧹🧼

Last night I was silently cursing the injustice of being limited on allergy medicine relief options whilst pumping (which I was also silently cursing) when I was struck with a brilliant idea. Why not grab my heat massagers and apply them to my poor sinuses? WORKED LIKE A CHARM they started draining almost immediately! Have I mentioned how much I LOVE THESE MASSAGERS!!! Must have for every mom!

✂️THE SCISSOR TRICK✂️ “Ready for the LIFE CHANGING TIP for helping kids learn to use scissors??? It just takes a smiley face 😃
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When kids start using scissors, the natural inclination is to twist their wrists and hands. This makes cutting REAL hard. So that’s why putting a smiley face on their thumb (or a small sticker) is GOLD.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Draw a smiley face with marker (permanent washes off just fine 😉) and tell your child to “keep the smiley face up.” This helps make a REALLY abstract idea super concrete: kids can immediately “see” what to do to help them cut more successfully.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
THE FAQs of SCISSORS:
✂️ It’s up to you when you introduce scissors. It’s a hard motor skill but it needs to be learned in the preschool years.
✂️ More and more kids are entering elementary school with less and less cutting skills. Please give your kiddo a chance to learn this skill BEFORE kindergarten.
✂️ I don’t have a scissor preference for kids - grab anything (Fiskars is usually what we have)
✂️I’m left handed. So is my husband. We both use right handed scissors. Lefties are amazing 🙌🏻 at adapting (cars, can openers, notebooks - it’s a right handed world 😂). Since left handed scissors are NOT readily available at school, a friend’s house, or a neighbor’s junk drawer, I’m really glad I learned to use right handed scissors. Other lefties do fun tricks like flip right handed scissors upside down which is way cool but I’ll never be that 😉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you for coming to my Scissor Ted Talk.” Hope these tips help! Reposted from

Hey Mama!! Don’t compare somebody else’s highlight reel to what’s going on in your family. Social media is full of filtered and posed, moment in time pics that only represent a microsecond in the life of those people. Life is a tapestry made by threads of blessings, joy, struggles, hardship, sadness, desire, love, worry, excitement, satisfaction... all weaved together to create the entire picture of a full lifetime. There is tension in real life. It’s what makes the good parts more enjoyable.💜

The struggle with staying present. ⠀⠀⠀
I can relate to this one! I will say this - It's impossible to be 100% present with our children 100% of the time. That's just not going to happen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead, we can shoot for small amounts of time of mindfulness by becoming intentional. During the next play session, try out these simple tips and see if it helps you stay more present. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Add some lavender essential oil to your child’s playdough to add some calm

HOW TO MAKE PLAYDOUGH
Playdough ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup salt
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 cups lukewarm water
2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works too)
Food coloring, optional
Lavender EO, optional
Quart sized bags
Stir together the flour, salt and cream of tartar in a large pot. Next add the water and oil. If you’re only making one color, add in the the color now as well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue stirring until the dough has thickened and begins to form into a ball. Remove from heat and then place inside a gallon sized bag or onto wax paper. Allow to cool slightly and then knead until smooth. If you’re adding colors after, divide the dough into balls (for how many colors you want) and then add the dough into the quart sized bags. Start with about 5 drops of color and add more to brighten it. Add Lavender EO. Knead the dough, while inside the bag so it doesn’t stain your hands. Once it’s all mixed together you’re ready to PLAY.

💦POURING STATION💦 Thank goodness for the pouring station on days like today 😂 Swipe to see this activity over the years - ending with my sweet Sam, age 25 months in one of the first photos we ever posted to Instagram 😭 Pouring Station is legit - and it just doesn’t get old 🙌🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In a storage container, add cups, bowls, scoops, funnel - whatever you have on hand... I promise it’ll work 🎉 This is my beloved storage container / sensory bin (a 41 qt bin from Target - I call it the “two buns bin” because it’s great for siblings) and my kids will play here on and off all day 💦

Here’s the 411 and some FAQ: yes, that’s just normal food coloring in the water and nope, it won’t stain 🙌🏻 It’s totally optional, but it’s diluted so much in the containers that it works for us 😉 I put a towel under this to catch drips and spills - you can also move this outside or to the bath tub 💦 Every now and then, I move all the cups out of the bin, tip it, and pour water back into the jars to “reset” the activity 👏🏻 Of course the water was totally a brown color by the end but the kids don’t care 🤣🤣 If you have questions about how my kids learned to play with set ups like this, I have an IGTV called “sensory bins 101” where I explain how I guide my kids in managing this type of play 👍🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Finally, the amount of learning going on here is amazing 👏🏻 This is how my kids have learned to pour and fill over the years, about capacity and volume, and how liquids behave 🤯 Today, Kate (5) figured out displacement 😱 This is hands-on learning at its finest 🎉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Keep the Pouring Station in your back pocket right now - it’s a gem to pull out when you need a moment to breathe ❤️ Again, check out that IGTV on Sensory Bins if these are new to you - I promise it’s doable 😘

I never knew so much anger even existed in me until I became a Mom. No one told me I would experience this kind of anger, raise my voice in a tone I’ve never heard before, and feel incredibly isolated and ashamed because of it. There are times when I don’t even recognize this person who has yelled relentlessly at my kids. It’s shameful, embarrassing, and humiliating BUT not yelling is really hard to do sometimes.

Every single time we get in the car the kids fight over where they are going to sit, so I started telling them where they would be sitting before we even got out the door in hopes that it would help. In some ways it has helped, but not yesterday.

We were running out the door to preschool and I said “Charlize is behind mommy. Jax is the middle. Sawyer is in the back.” Jax did NOT want to sit in the middle and was throwing a tantrum about his seating arrangement. I got the other two buckled and told Jax “you can get in the car yourself or I will pick you up and put you in. It is your choice.” He ran. I chased. I picked him up and tried to buckle him. He screamed and kicked and fought. I could feel my anxiety creeping in. I stopped and told myself “just breathe.” Deep breath in. Deep breath out. “I’m going to hold your legs down until you calm your body down because you’re hurting me when you kick and I need to get you buckled.” He eventually stopped kicking but was still screaming. This was at least ten minutes in and I somehow managed to stay calm the entire time. “When you are finished crying, I will buckle you in and we will head out.” I waited. And waited. And eventually, he was ready.

The old me would have responded so much differently. There would have been yelling and lots of tears from him and me; and probably a panic attack too. But not yesterday. Yesterday was progress!" ❤️ (📷: )
