Karen's love for delicious food took her to Mexico, where she mastered the art of cooking. This journey led to a successful Mexican food truck, followed by a permanent spot at the , Mechelen. It was there that Karen crossed paths with her partner in both life and cuisine, Elena.

With her Spanish charm and culinary experience, Elena proved to be an invaluable addition to Alma Libre as they continued to write the Alma story together..

Wij zoeken een enthousiast teamlid voor ons nieuw Mexicaans restaurant op Antwerpen Zuid! 🎉

Flexibele uren (5-10u/week), heerlijk eten en een bruisende sfeer wachten op jou. Horeca ervaring is een plus maar klantvriendelijkheid staat voorop!

Nieuw op het menu: de overheerlijke enchilada! Een traditioneel en veelzijdig Mexicaans gerecht waarvan je duimen en vingers zal aflikken 😋

De basis van onze enchilada is de zachte maïstortilla die vervolgens gevuld wordt met één van onze Alma Libre classics; van onze chicken mole of tinga, de traag gegaarde pulled pork of onze vegan bonenpasta.

Vervolgens wordt de enchilada overgoten met een overheerlijke en rijke tomatensaus. We zetten de puntjes op de i met een afwerking van zure room, koriander & queso fresco.💥

Dat onze nieuwe vestiging in Antwerpen een taqueria is, dat weten jullie intussen. Maar wist je dat wij eveneens een mezcaleria zijn? Mezca-wat? 😁

Laten we stellen dat de tequila-kenner, liefhebber en fans bij ons aan het juiste adres zijn. Naast pure tequila van topkwaliteit, kan jij bij ons ook verschillende originele cocktails met deze sterke drank drinken.

Wat is nu echter die mezcal? Wel, een mezcaleria is een bar of resto waar ook mezcal te verkrijgen is. Deze spirit staat bekend als tequila’s smoky en mysterieuze neefje.

Dit rokerige drankje is een speciale smaakmaker en verdient daarom een prominente plaats in onze mezcaleria! Zowel tequila als mezcal wordt gedistilleerd van de agaveplant, een plant die een speciale plaats inneemt in de rijke geschiedenis van Mexico. 🇲🇽

Het verschil tussen de twee zit hem echter in het productieproces; waarvoor tequila de agave wordt gekookt, wordt de plant voor mezcal gerookt wat zorgt voor een uniek smaakpalet en karakter. Getriggerd? Mooi zo! 😉🙌
