Van Den Berghe Theatrical Sets Leiden 2022 Historical Stage Scenery in the Leidse Schouwburg

We would like to remind you that on 13 October at 9:00 a.m. CET, we will be hosting an online roundtable by the CANON project, discussing the ways of preserving cultural heritage, caring for collections and sharing knowledge of technical theatre history. The event will be available via ZOOM.

The main speakers will be Dr. Stefan Gräbener, architect and chairman of the Initiative TheaterMuseumBerlin and Pieter De Ketelaere, project manager of the City Theatre Bruges heritage. The CANON project will be represented by Chris van Goethem, researcher at the expertise centre for technical theatre RITCS in Brussels and the CANON project leader. The fourth speaker is Jim Laws, introducing mainly his own collection of historical equipment, which he rents for commercial use occasionally. Each participant will present their project, collection or initiative in a 15-minute talk, touching upon the aims and merits of their organization, the extent of their collections and activities, their goals, achievements, difficulties, risks and visions of the future.

After a short break, we will hear about the CANON project and the focus on digital (open data) gathering of information and collections at risk, with suggestions on how to improve cooperation between institutions in their efforts to preserve cultural heritage and technical theatre collections.

The event will be hosted by Nick Hunt, lighting designer and Programme Director for Lighting Design at Rose Bruford College.
