Time for some Big Bottles. This Magnum Ilatraia 2012 from Brancaia is still young. 40% Cab Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot, 20% Cab Franc. Black cherries, blueberries, to***co, cedar. Wonderfully balanced with supple tannins and good freshness. Rightfully called Supertuscan! 🍷

What a treat this last bottle of Pommard 1er Cru « Clos des Poutures » from Armand Heitz. This 2013 was his first vintage when we discovered this new Burgundy winemaker. 🍷🍇

Sommelier of the Year 2024

Maandag 5 februari was het de finale van de verkiezing "Sommelier of the Year 2024". Samen met een dertigtal collega-sommeliers van over het ganse land kregen we 15 minuten om een blindproef tot een goed einde te brengen. In deze proef moesten we een wijn en het gepaste glas selecteren die het beste zou pairen met een kaasbordje. Vervolgens mochten we één voor één in anderhalve minuut onze keuze verdedigen alsof we in ons restaurant aan het werk waren voor een jury van enkele van de beste sommeliers van het land.

Trots kan ik jullie melden dat ik alvast als winnaar werd uitgeroepen voor de provincie Limburg en als finalist voor België. Volgende maand wordt de winnaar voor België bekend gemaakt.

Dankbaar dat ik aan deze verkiezing heb mogen deelnemen dankzij jullie massale stemmen.

Our latest vinvino discovery in Alto Piemonte are the Carema wines from sommelier winemaker Gianmarco Viano of Monte Maletto. Pure original vibrant wines made from Erbaluce and Picotendre. Production is very limited , on less then 2 ha he makes less then 5000 bottles. We met him last summer in Carema where he works hard on the revival of Carema. 🍷🍇

We presented a lot of new wines during our latest Cru & Sori Tasting. Monte Maletto from Carema, Domaine Vaudoisey from Volnay and Massimo Benevelli from Monforte d’Alba. Burgundy and Piedmont specialist since 2005. 🍷🍇

TRIPLE HONOURS FOR CEBENE IN DECANTER

Good news from the UK: Decanter's Languedoc correspondent Natalie Earl visited us and tasted through our range earlier this year, and now she has published the first in a series of articles about Languedoc's leading appellations and very best wines.

We're delighted that wines from Faugères showed particularly well in this round up, with no less than five cuvées from the appellation featuring in the top seven slots, scoring an impressive 95 points each time.

Within these are a trio of Domaine de Cébène organic bottles, all three with 95 points (the very highest score). The wines in question are Belle Lurette 2021 (an AOP Faugères made mainly from old vine Carignan), Les Bancèls 2021 (an AOP Faugères from our iconic north-facing terraced vines) and Felgaria 2018 (a rare combination of Mourvèdre grown at altitude on schist, with a little Syrah).
