Man, what an insane year. This has been the toughest season for me in 25 years of playing team sports. On my body. On my mind. On my family. There were for sure days where I wasn’t sure how it was all going to play out but WE as a team kept faith. From being 0-4 (3-9 at Labour Day) and rallying the last half of the season to make the playoffs. From playing through broken ribs, messed up back and a dislocated thumb I fought for the black and gold every day, and always will.

I don’t say these things to try and get a “pat on the back”, hell no, I don’t want it. I don’t need it. I say these things to remind myself that no matter what this season threw at us we prevailed. I know we fell short of Our ultimate goal but I know this season was crucial to my story. Good and bad. The bond in this locker room was one of the tightest I’ve ever been apart of and it was truly special.

Write me off. Count me out. Do whatever you want. But I know who I am as a man, teammate, and QB and I know how sweet it’s going to feel raising that Grey Cup up in Hamilton next year.

Happy happy birthday to my amazing wife!!! Watching you become a mom and role model for our daughter has exceeded my wildest dreams. The translation is roughly “they (children) are ALL important” and that perfectly sums up what today is all about. Truth and Reconciliation Day is a day to acknowledge a terrible part of Canada’s history but also to learn about some beautiful cultures and how we can move on from here. I challenge everyone across the world today to spend some time to learn a native word or phrase or even visit www.whose.land and find out whose land your two feet are on.

I was honored to be invited to Six Nations for the second time last week. From meeting Chief LaForme (Mississauga of the Credit), to learning some native phrases with Mrs. Nikki, and even getting to sling it around native style with Cody Jamieson and learning all about the game the creator gave us, Deyhontsigwa’ehs. It was an incredible day full of culture, learning, and listening and I am beyond excited to see where the relationship goes from here. 🧡🧡🧡
