Connected Textiles - The Hospital Room of the Future

Since January 1st 2017, the University of Liège (ULiège), through its Interface Entreprises (ITF), is coordinating an Interreg V-A Euregio Meuse-Rhine project aimed at developing, for hospitalised patients, a wearable connected textile with integrated multi-sensors, capable of taking and processing in continuous several patient's vital parameters, without manual intervention by the nursing staff. A valuable time, currently spent on setting and encoding parameters, that nurses will be able to devote to the quality of care provided to hospitalized patients.

The textile prototype will be tested at first in a Care Unit of the University Hospital of Liège (CHU Liège) welcoming patients suffering of cardiac diseases.

This 3-year and 4.6 million-euro Interreg V-A EMR project, concretized as wearIT4health, is made up of a multidisciplinary and complementary consortium of 8 partners:

Interface Entreprises ULiège, Microsys ULiège, Centexbel, University Hospital of Liège (CHU Liège), Maastricht University (MUMC+ UM) and Hospital (MUMC+ azM), KU Leuven (Advise, M3 Biores, ESAT Diepenbeek) and UHasselt (IMO-IMOMEC and MHU).
