Another beautiful resident dorado in the Tsimane headwaters. 2022 season is coming soon! 🎥: @_danielcoimbra_ #flyfishing #fishing #flyfish #jungleflyfishing #tsimane #tsimanelodges #jungleangling #dorado #goldendorado #amazoniandorado #catchandrelease #untamedangling

Sight casting (utilizing the guide’s sight, not mine) for a nice Amazonian dorado sitting in a pocket like a brown trout... but just a little more aggressive. 😎 🎥: @_danielcoimbra_ #flyfishing #fishing #flyfish #jungleflyfishing #tsimane #tsimanelodges #jungleangling #dorado #goldendorado #amazoniandorado #catchandrelease #untamedangling

Cast far from where the fish are located, and always use barbless hooks. With the size of flies we use at Tsimane, it’s safer not only for the fish but also for the angler. 🤟 🎥: @_danielcoimbra_ #flyfishing #fishing #flyfish #jungleflyfishing #tsimane #tsimanelodges #jungleangling #dorado #goldendorado #amazoniandorado #catchandrelease #untamedangling

When fishing the compact stretches of the Tsimane, sometimes it's better to cast far from the river bank. This ups the odds that the dorado won't see you or hear you, and also helps prevent spooking the baitfish and alerting the whole river system to your presence. 🎥: @_danielcoimbra_

New tatoo!
After 35 years of fishing professionally for dorado, I was probably getting too confident about handling the fish. This 20-lb. dorado almost cut two of my fingers because of my neglect.😬 🎥: Daniel Coimbra

I like to share with others my own personal experiences — no matter if it’s success or failure. That day the failure’s shadow was hanging over me since I hooked the fish and saw it was running downstream right to a fallen tree. Many years ago I would have probably jumped into the water to keep the line free and fight the fish from a better position, but to be honest, this time I thought, "Hmm ... nah." I held the expectation that it could turn upstream and stay with me but the big dorado decided to pass through the branches and only then turn upstream and jump one last time before splitting the fly. Next time I will bring a chainsaw. Video: Daniel Coimbra
