Our EY3 group is developing the literacy process, expanding their knowledge about the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. As a PYP school, we value the students' agency, their voice, choice and ownership. Since the first day of school, we noticed that they were very interested in Pokemon stories. So we decided to build on their interest as a resource for their learning. We have a new Pokemon Alphabet in our classroom and we’re also practicing the attributes from the Learner Profile with Pokemon. Last week we had a big surprise in our class: they received a box with a letter and were really curious to know what it was. Turns out, it was a letter from Professor Oak, from the Pokemon Center in Kanto Region, and because of their hard work and interest, they received a new mascot for the class. ———- Nosso grupo EY3 está desenvolvendo o processo de alfabetização, ampliando seus conhecimentos sobre as letras do alfabeto e seus sons. Como uma escola PYP, valorizamos a agência dos alunos, sua voz, escolha e propriedade. Desde o primeiro dia de aula, notamos que eles estavam muito interessados em histórias de Pokémon. Então decidimos aproveitar o interesse deles como um recurso para o aprendizado. Temos um novo Alfabeto Pokémon em nossa sala de aula e também estamos praticando os atributos do Perfil do Aprendiz com Pokémon. Na semana passada tivemos uma grande surpresa na nossa turma: eles receberam uma caixa com uma carta e ficaram muito curiosos para saber o que era. Did you ever watch a stop-motion animation? Stop-motion is a very interesting resource to make a movie and you can make it out of anything: pictures, objects, clay, and other materials. This short movie is a sequence of frames, each a bit different from the previous one. Using an editor you can assemble the pictures in the right order and by decreasing the time each frame appears for fractions of seconds, you allow the movement to happen. Isn't it fantastic? Primary 1 is working on a stop-motion movie in the atelier. ————— Você já assistiu a uma animação em stop-motion? O stop-motion é um recurso muito interessante para fazer um filme e você pode fazê-lo com qualquer coisa: fotos, objetos, argila e outros materiais. Este curta-metragem é uma sequência de quadros, cada um um pouco diferente do anterior. Usando um editor de vídeos você pode montar as fotos na ordem certa e ao diminuir o tempo que cada quadro aparece por frações de segundos, você permite que o movimento aconteça. Não é fantástico?
