If you don't take care of yourself, then who will?
Being able to love others starts with learning to love yourself first. How to achieve this? Different things work for different people, but here is a 101 list you can explore:
⠀⠀
- Eat healthy food.
- Practice sports.
- Do something that makes you feel good (play a paddle tennis match, get a massage, or have that cake you've been wanting for weeks).
- Sleep enough.
- Practice some form of mindfulness (concentrate on the dishes and nothing but the dishes if you have to wash them; concentrate on every step you take as you walk to work; focus on your breath before falling asleep, etc.)
- Take rest when your body asks for it.
- Trust your judgment.
- Meet with people you love and who love you back.
- Travel.
- Listen to your gut feeling.
- Make time for some pampering on your schedule.
- Start a gratitude diary and write down small things that make you happy – next time you are sad, read what you have written.
- Write down your accomplishments, small or big – and love yourself for what you have achieved.
⠀⠀
