Established in 1961 following discussions between the Third Druk Gyalpo, the King of Bhutan, and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1958, Project Dantak has grown from modest beginnings in bamboo huts to become a formidable organization. It has played a significant role in contributing to the economic development of the Royal Government of Bhutan through infrastructure development.

This session will shed light on the evolution of Project Dantak's operations in Bhutan over the years, with a particular focus on the innovative adoption of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) approach. Brigadier Jaswinder Singh, Chief Engineer of Dantak, will share his valuable insights and experiences in pioneering this PPP model within the organization.

Brigadier Jaswinder Singh is an Indian Army officer who presently holds the position of Chief Engineer at Project Dantak in Bhutan. He has nearly three decades of military experience, in which he has spent one decade each with Northern borders and western borders and in staff positions both in field areas and in Army headquarters. He holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Mechanical Engineering. In addition, he holds degrees of MSc and MPhil in Strategic Studies. With his wealth of experience and leadership, Brigadier Jaswinder Singh now guides Project Dantak towards its goals with a quiet and steadfast determination. His leadership style and dedication continue to inspire those around him.

Join us to understand the insights shared at our upcoming Druk Tshongrig Gatoen festival!

Introducing Pinda Rika Dorji, the Bhutanese esports phenomenon affectionately known as PindaPanda! PindaPanda is not just your typical gamer; she's a dominant force in the Dota 2 realm and an enchanting content creator. ๐Ÿผ

But there's more to her story! PindaPanda is the esteemed ambassador for renowned gaming giants such as Rivalry, CORSAIR, and Tier One Entertainment. Beyond the gaming universe, she passionately champions the cause of women in esports, bravely confronting issues like sexism and harassment. She serves as an inspiration to all budding gamers, proving that ambitions transcend boundaries and gender norms.

In a rapidly evolving business landscape, gender disparities endure, acting as barriers to women's entrepreneurial journeys. Issues like limited representation, constrained resource access, and societal expectations can hinder the dreams of women aspiring to become business owners.

This engaging virtual session, akin to a TED Talk, focuses on these challenges by highlighting the remarkable journey of a pioneering woman who triumphed over these obstacles to achieve extraordinary success.๐Ÿš€

Join us in celebrating PindaPanda at our upcoming Druk Tshongrig Gatoen festival! Don't miss out! ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿงก

As Druk Tshongrig Gatoen - DTG approaches, let's learn what it means to be a Bodhisattva Entrepreneur and how we at Loden Foundation emphasizes Buddha Nature to our entrepreneurs.

The Bodhisattva ideal of simultaneously bringing benefit for oneself and others (เฝ–เฝ‘เฝ‚เผ‹เฝ‚เฝžเฝ“เผ‹เฝ‚เฝ‰เฝฒเฝฆเผ‹เฝ•เฝ“เผ‹), which is akin to a double bottom line framework of measuring profit and social impact or the triple bottom line of financial, social and environmental benefit, remains at the heart of the Loden Entrepreneurship Programme.

Deriving inspiration from the Buddhist teachings and Bodhisattva practices, we put focus on the inexhaustible inner asset of the mind, which everyone possesses equally, and highlight how the inner qualities of the mind - intelligence, creativity, determination, diligence, patience, compassion, mindfulness, resilience - are fundamental and most essential prerequisites of a successful entrepreneur. Using the Buddha's teachings on the Four Noble Truths as a problem-solving scheme and the Noble Eightfold Path as a project development and management strategy, we actively cultivate both aspects of wisdom and compassion in business and underscore the engagement of the head, heart and hands in entrepreneurship.

Thus, the primary focus of the Loden programme is to harness the inner capital of the mind in both its cognitive and moral dimensions through education and capacity building. To this effect, the entrepreneurs are made to reflect on the central Buddhist philosophy of interdependence, the concept of karmic cause and effect, right livelihood, right mindfulness, and the Bodhisattva practice of six perfections, including generosity, discipline, patience, effort, concentration and wisdom. In a society with a strong tendency for spirituality but a stark separation of spirituality from business affairs, there is a great need to bring spirituality and ethics into regular occupations and make business or any other profession a spiritual vocation and process of edification and enlightenment.

Today, we are economic animals more than ever before in human history. The two actions of production and consumption virtually define our personal well-being, community's progress and nation's strength and prosperity. Therefore, our endeavours of production and consumption must be responsible, sustainable and wholesome for oneself, others and the environment. The Loden Entrepreneurship Programme is a modest effort to create a community of socially responsible and ethical entrepreneurs.

Yet, suppose our habit of consumption, which has rapidly risen in the past few decades, is not curbed. In that case, we will never be able to meet the two ends of production and consumption and will continue to have a serious trade imbalance and budget deficit. The future of economic self-reliance and even food security will remain an unachievable goal. Given this scenario, the Loden Foundation also strives to highlight Bhutan's ancient values of contentment, middle way, respect for food, perception of nature, concerns about waste, etc., to promote a culture of healthy consumption and responsible living.

The Bhutanese name, Loden (เฝ–เพณเฝผเผ‹เฝฃเพกเฝ“เผ‹), means the intelligent one. It is an epithet of the Buddha of Wisdom and Padmasambhava, the saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. It is another term for Bodhisattvas equipped with wisdom and compassion. It is our prayer that through the Loden Tshongrig Programme/Loden Entrepreneurship Programme, we can promote a culture of intelligent business and gradually create a community of intelligent producers and a society of intelligent consumers.

Being the founder and CEO (Anuj Pradhan) of Aero-TECH Bhutan along with my Co-founder (Sangay Dorji), one and the most challenging thing was keeping myself and my co-founder motivated to never give-up despite all other problems. It took us more than 2 years to get the clearance to introduce such technology and become the pioneer. There were restrictions from regulation, stakeholders, and the fear of the public who did not understand the positive side of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). Everyone thought it was an invasion to their privacy and personal security but the motive was always to stand by His Majestyโ€™s vision of digitizing Bhutan. Since we did not have the clearance, we were not provided with any opportunity or projects to sustain Aero-TECH Bhutan, but things turned out differently after being attached with the Royal Office for Media.

Amongst the many hurdles such as that of tight regulations, gaining peopleโ€™s trust and the financial constraints. Like the two sides of every story, we too were blessed with a positive facet of our business idea. The best thing when I started my journey was, two years back, our nation had very few people who could understand the UAV language. But as we pioneered drone technology, many people came by to ask for it. Slowly people started understanding the use of drones, many agencies came up with the procurement ideas and many came up with training related to it. As of now, Aero-TECH Bhutan has completed multiple Royal Projects, multiple government projects, provided training to agencies like NLCS and RBP, provided much free consultation on the drone procurement according to their need and also helped many in supply of drones. Looking at how far we have come makes us proud to have faced and gallantly passed all the hurdles.

โ€œI can advise that thereโ€™s always a way to your dreams. The lesson of being persistent, passionate and the pioneer always comes with a cost, and it will cost you, your time. Invest your time in strategic and financial planning and moreover if you can bring the change at first, never lose hope and try to be the change. Prove your worth and your capabilities, to be that change and let the world change itself for you.โ€ - Anuj Pradhan CEO of Aero-TECH Bhutan

Celebrating the Global Entrepreneurship Week through Druk Tshongrig Gatoen (Bhutan Entrepreneurship Festival)

After a one-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Druk Tshongrig Gatoen is being held at the CSI Market from 9th-13th November 2021 to coincide with the Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The objective of hosting Druk Tshongrig Gatoen is to expose young Bhutanese to entrepreneurship and provide a platform for our community to come together to share entrepreneurial endeavors, experiences, gain amazing new insights, and pledge to become an invaluable part of the ever-thriving startup ecosystem in Bhutan.

At the event, two online platforms will be launched. One is Sibjam โ€“ a web app that directly connects farmers to the market, and the other is www.biz.bt โ€“ a platform that can act as a website for start-ups that cannot afford to build their website to assist with their digital marketing. It will also act as a directory for customers to find businesses.

Guests and judges will be able to try quality local products at the CSI Market and in tents where new products will be launched and sold. KAB, a visual music group will perform during the event. About Druk Tshongrig Gatoen - DTG

An Introduction

Tshongrig refers to 'intelligent business' and entails a culture of business and entrepreneurship infused with intelligent production and consumption. The global community in general, with its aim for Sustainable Development Goals, and Bhutan in particular, with its pursuit of Gross National Happiness, is earnestly calling for the promotion of intelligent businesses.

Started in 2018, the Druk Tshongrig Gatoen (DTG) is the Bhutan's first festival to promote and celebrate social entrepreneurship, intelligent business and celebrate young Bhutanese entrepreneurs who had the courage to dream big and start their entrepreneurial journey. In addition, the festival brings together entrepreneurship-support organizations from the government stakeholders, civil society organizations, development partners, independent agencies, private companies and most importantly the Bhutanese entrepreneurs to spread the awareness on importance of entrepreneurship for Bhutan for the young minds.

From panel discussions on important issues and opportunities for entrepreneurship in Bhutan to small half-day events across all colleges and technical training institutes in the country, from launch of exciting new initiatives during the weekend to benefit young entrepreneurs to lively 'Sales Pitch' at the market fair in Thimphu, from recognizing the extraordinary achievements of individual entrepreneurs to celebrating all entrepreneurs in Bhutan - the festival presents a platform for everyone to get inspired, make new connections and foster a culture of collaboration.

Building on to the success of these events, the DTG aims to compliment such efforts through the following objectives:

INSPIRE: To introduce the concept of entrepreneurship to young people outside of Thimphu in colleges and technical training institutes and inspire them to consider entrepreneurship as a career choice after graduation. This would be done through established entrepreneurs sharing their entrepreneurial journey that is fun, informative and encouraging.
