One winter morning in 2019, I received a call at 5am from a long-lost friend/elder brother. He had been following my hustle and wanted to help me elevate. He said, "I have an opportunity for you, let's meet today." At the time, I was a cab driver who had started my own cab company by renting a Honda Fit from a church colleague. I was spamming Facebook with my adverts every single morning, posting about my cab services in over 100 Facebook groups, and everyone on BW Facebook saw my posts.

Later that day, we met and he introduced me to Energy Efficiency Management, a field that helps save both the planet and our money as consumers by using less power. He told me about a few products, including the Digital Geyser Timer and Geyser Blanket, which I would sell via social media and be compensated on a commission basis.

We hit the ground running and sold hundreds of Digital Geyser Timers and Geyser Blankets over the past 3 years. During that time, I also enrolled in an Electrical Studies short course via alison.com to learn more about electricity and be able to install the timers and sell more services on Energy Efficiency Management.

Since then, I have installed almost 100 timers and am now building a renewable energy brand from the ground up. BPC'S PUBLIC HEARING ON REVIEW OF ELECTRICITY TARIFFS IS TO BE HEARD TODAY

A public hearing in which Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) is applying for the review of electricity tariffs will be heard today in Gaborone.

Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority has received an application for a tariff review from BPC earlier this year in June, pursuant to Section 57 of the BERA Act.

In its application, BPC proposes a cost reflective tariff migration path to be implemented over 3 years, from 2021/22 financial year to 2023/24 financial year.

For financial year 2021/22, BPC proposes a 5% increase, for 2022/23 4% increase while for 2023/2020 another 4% increase.
