🌹ATTACHMENT STYLES 🌹
Attachment styles refer to the patterns of interpersonal relationships established in early childhood that can influence how individuals form and maintain relationships throughout their lives. The concept of attachment styles was originally developed by psychologist John Bowlby and further expanded upon by Mary Ainsworth.
🌹THERE ARE FOUR PRIMARY ATTACHMENT STYLES 🌹
1. 🌹SECURE ATTACHMENT 🌹Individuals with a secure attachment style are generally able to form healthy, balanced relationships. They feel comfortable with emotional intimacy and are able to trust others. They are able to express their needs and emotions, and they believe they are worthy of love and respect.
2. 🌹ANXIOUS PRE-OCCUPIED ATTACHMENT 🌹 People with this attachment style often fear rejection and abandonment, and they may worry that their partners do not truly care for them. They tend to seek high levels of closeness and approval from their partners and may become overly dependent. They may also be overly sensitive to changes in their relationships.
3. 🌹DISMISSIVE AVOIDANT ATTACHMENT 🌹 Individuals with this attachment style may feel uncomfortable with emotional intimacy and may prioritize independence. They may downplay the importance of close relationships and may have difficulty relying on others or expressing their own emotions. They may have a tendency to distance themselves when they feel their independence is threatened.
4. 🌹FEARFUL AVOIDANT ATTACHMENT 🌹 (also known as disorganized attachment): People with this attachment style often have conflicting feelings about relationships. They desire closeness, but at the same time, they may be uncomfortable with it due to fear of rejection or harm. They may struggle with trust and may exhibit unpredictable behavior in relationships.
NOTE: Attachment styles are not fixed and can evolve or change over time, particularly with self-awareness, intentional effort and therapy.

Insights 🌹🪷
In the current times, many individuals feel compelled to seek approval. They are expected to conform to society's standards and ideals of success and happiness. Society dictates what it believes defines success and happiness, pressuring individuals to adhere to these standards. My encouragement is that you stay true to yourself, pursue your goals without seeking validation, and let your accomplishments speak for themselves. Refrain from engaging with those who try to undermine you or provoke jealousy through their own achievements.

🪵THE MIND OF AN ABUSER
"In his/her mind, the perpetrator sees their victim/ survivor as an object, without autonomy, choices, emotions, or needs"
Since the survivor is an object, he/she doesn’t require the perpetrator's empathy. The survivor is there only for the perpetrator's gratification. The perpetrator doesn’t look at him/her as a separate person, but rather a mere extension of themselves. Their distorted view gives them their right to impose any demands on their partner and their family. The perpetrator feels justified to behave in any way that keeps their partner in line.
What truly goes on in the Perpetrator's mind?
🪵FEAR ISSUES
The abuser has a fear of being mocked, embarrassed, or betrayed by their partner. They are afraid of losing their family, which they consider an extension of themselves.
🪵LOW SELF-ESTEEM
Perpetrators have a fragile ego and have a hard time taking criticism, even if it’s constructive. It’s common that perpetrators with low self-worth will be more inclined to be abusive to others. People with a healthy self-esteem would not react in this way. A person who is ‘down on themselves’ more easily reacts in anger.
🪵 EMOTIONAL DEPENDENCY
Although it may seem like the abuser is independent and can do without their partner, abusers are on the contrary, very dependent. Their neediness creates an unrealistic expectation of the relationship. When they feel helpless, they will react to that feeling by trying to control their partner and get their partner to stay with them by any means necessary.
🪵 VULNERABILITY
Aspects that create a healthy intimate relationship, such as honesty and opening up to his partner, makes the abuser feel vulnerable and unsafe. The abuser wants things to work perfectly for them, but any imperfection seen on their side is not acceptable to them. They must feel strong, and being vulnerable isn’t seen as a strength
