Every year on December 1st, the world comes together to observe World AIDS Day, shedding light on the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS. This year's theme, "Let Communities Lead"
World AIDS Day serves as a global reminder to raise awareness, fight stigma, and show support for those living with HIV/AIDS. It is a day to reflect on progress made and to acknowledge the challenges that persist. This day encourages individuals, communities, and nations to unite in the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The Drug Enforcement Agency training on the Universal Prevention Curriculum.
Mental health is a basic human right for all people. Everyone, whoever and wherever they are, has a right to the highest attainable standard of mental health. This includes the right to be protected from mental health risks, the right to available, accessible, acceptable, and good quality care, and the right to liberty, independence and inclusion in the community.
Good mental health is vital to our overall health and well-being.
Mental health and substance use are closely related. people with mental health disorders are at high risk of using substances, and people who use substances are also at risk of developing mental health disorders. It is important to understand the link between these two conditions and we must encourage people struggling with co-occuring disorders to seek help.
BAAP attended and set-up an information stall at the University of Botswana Counselling Day commemoration organized by UB Careers and Counselling Centre. The DEA Coordinator Ms Ramokoka was the guest of honour at the even and she encouraged the nation to continually talk about issues of drugs and recovery.

This year we celebrate with the theme Every Person, Every Family, Every Community, ‘Recovery for All’. This theme is a reminder that recovery from addiction is possible for everyone, regardless of their age, gender, or social status. Addiction is a complex disease that can affect anyone. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, environment, and mental health conditions. Recovery is also a complex process that takes time and effort. There is no single approach to recovery, and what works for one person may not work for another, everyone's journey to recovery is different. The tag line recognises that with care and support recovery is possible for everyone.
