Local business Nature's Laboratory Ltd received a 'highly commended' award in the Best Business Transformation category at last night's Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards. They were also shortlisted in the Best Small Business Category, making the top 10% of entries. Well done!

If you're not following Made in Whitby yet, you should be! It's a fantastic initiative, led by some of Whitby's manufacturing businesses. They've just launched a scheme aimed at engaging young people in creating manufacturing businesses in the town - open to young people aged 16-21, there's an amazing packaging of friendly business support, encouragement and some financial assistance to help get ideas of the ground!

Oh, and make sure you put a note in your diary for the Made in Whitby Christmas Festival, happening on 16th - 17th December at Whitby Brewery - it's going to be great ๐Ÿ˜„

It's not long until Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage begins. Featuring over 100 artists in 60 pop-up galleries around the village and nearby locations - including the fantastic work of KV Artist Blacksmith on display in her workshop in Hinderwell.

Staithes Festival is a wonderful celebration of art and culture, held in one of the most iconic fishing villages on our stretch of the beautiful North Yorkshire coast. Make sure you visit www.staithesfesitval.com to find out more.

Much fo the weekend's festivities are totally free of charge, so why not make a day of it - it's set to be a fantastic event.

Open Studio - Come to my workshop to say hello! ๐Ÿ˜„

As part of the Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage I will be opening the workshop doors to all, for the weekend, for the very first time!

On Saturday and Sunday the 16th - 17th September.

10am to 5.30pm.

(Please Note - The forge will not be open for the Friday opening evening).

Located just outside of Staithes in Hinderwell, everyone and anyone is welcome to pop in to the forge.

The fire will be ticking over and I will be tinkering away and ready to have a chat to anyone who wants to take a look around, ask some questions and see a few small examples of my work.

Will you be in Whitby on Saturday 2nd September? Nature's Laboratory Ltd are holding an open day at their factory, inviting the public to discover more about their research, and the innovative natural medicines they produce. Why not go along? There'll be cake! ๐Ÿ˜€

We've been researching, formulating and manufacturing herbal medicines in Whitby for over 20 years. To celebrate our 21st birthday we're opening our doors and holding a public open day. And you're invited!

There'll be cake, free herbal tea & coffee and product samples to take home as well as talks from our team and the opportunity to have a look around our factory.

Founded by Jack Barber in 2010, the company has served Whitby's small businesses for over a decade and has built a strong reputation during this time.

Whit.by has been built as a replacement to an older website Jack built. Our hope is that it will become a place of reliable and useful information for visitors to our town, as well as locals.
