Have you ever tried a Belizean meat Pie? If not, you are missing out. Meat pies (or think like a mini pot pie) are yummy dough crusts stuffed with spiced beef or chicken and a seasoned sauce. They are warm and bursting with flavor, careful when you bite into one, and make sure to have some napkins around you, or *pro tip: just tear the top off and use it as a spoon. 😉

They may not sound like a breakfast item, but these are a Belizean breakfast staple. Often, you find locals riding around on their bikes early in the morning with baskets or coolers full of them selling out very quickly. You can also check San Pedro’s “front street” in the morning for some of the best meat pies in town. Meat pies are definitely a treat, and you can never have just one, so make sure to get a least a couple!
