Silverfox Announcements
This page is intended for enrolled Cadets and parents of 861 Silverfox RCACS.
For the Canada Day Parade on Monday July 1st, cadets are expected to arrive NO LATER than 09:30 to the south parking lot at Seven Oaks Mall. Cadets are to wear the summer dress uniform. Pickup is at the Cadet Building at approximately 12:30.
Please remember to eat breakfast before you arrive, and avoid dairy products such as milk/yogurt!
Band cadets are reminded to set up your instrument upon arrival and **leave your instrument cases in your parents car** as there is nowhere for us to store them during the parade.
Cadets who are unable to attend are reminded to fill out the absence request on the squadron website.
Reminder, our last parade night of 2024 is coming up and it is our Awards Night! LOTS of awards and promotions will be getting presented. Awards start at 19:00 on Wednesday June 19th. Dress of the day is SUMMER DRESS (not ceremonial as was previously posted)

861 has been given a full day of Fam Flying tomorrow at Pitt Meadows Airport.
Interest Cadets are to email the CO with their name and availability (morning, afternoon or both) to [email protected]
Confirmation with information and times will be sent as soon as possible via email.
This MONTH at 861:
Wednesday Nights:
- 5 June = Sports Night (wear gym clothes and bring water)
- 12 June = NO CADETS
- 19 June = Awards Night (C1 ceremonial uniform, same as ACR)
Other Activities:
- Band Practices continue every Tuesday in June 1830-2130 (preparing for the Canada Day parade)
- Range will be open to all cadets on June 13, and we may run an extra session on June 20 if supplies permit.
- We have a community service opportunity on the 18th at the Abbotsford Food Bank. Keep your eyes on our page here for a sign-up form for that!
- The Canada Day Parade is coming up on July 1st.

ACR INFO:
Cadets are to arrive at 08:00 in CIVILIAN CLOTHING with their UNIFORM ON HANGARS. Cadets should make sure their name is on ALL uniform parts so nothing goes missing. Cadets should also bring a water bottle. Lunch will be provided for cadets. Guests/spectators are to arrive between 14:00 and 14:30, with the parade marching on at 14:30. A short reception with some displays will follow the parade. Each family is asked to bring an item for the snack at the reception following the parade. We have a new Familiarization Flying opportunity! We don't know how many spaces or which time slots we will be getting yet, but on May 11th Air Operations has an available day of flying at Pitt Meadows Airport. Anyone interested should sign up and let us know which time slots they would be available for.
Unfortunately this directly conflicts with the FTX, and people registered for the FTX are therefore not eligible for this opportunity.

This Week at 861 we start things off with a couple events happening NEXT WEEKEND that we need cadets to sign up for:
1) The Girls Fly Too event happens annually at the Abbotsford Airport. We are looking for volunteers. Please see the post and scan the QR code for more info.
2) We have a power flying opportunity on Saturday for 12 cadets. Priority will be given to those cadets who have signed up for other shifts of Girls Fly Too and those cadets who have not flown already this year. (Other than that, first come first served). Sign up for this closes on Wednesday at midnight (after parade night).
Please note Cadet365 is required for both of the above sign-up forms.

Each year, April 9th is Vimy Ridge Day. Please take a moment to remember those brave Canadians from coast to coast that, for the first time, fought together against a common enemy at the Battle of Vimy Ridge in 1917 from April 9th to 12th.

FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE POSTPONED!
This event, originally scheduled for April 12-14, has been postponed. Sign-up for this event is temporarily paused, and will resume when a new date is announced. Cadets who have already signed up will be contacted when the new date is announced to confirm their availability.
The Level 1/2 Field Training Exercise will be happening on 12-14 April. This is a fun and exciting opportunity for cadets in these levels to learn survival skills and for them to complete some of the training periods they need for their Level Training Program.
