October isn’t too early to work on Christmas knitting when you have to deconstruct a 40-year-old stocking pattern and make three additional ones. You know, to complete the set.

As soon as I saw Natalie Portman wearing this sweet white scarf in Black Swan I knew I wanted to make it. Well, this is my attempt. I'd say I didn't nail it (regular Pinterest Failure over here) but I still like it as a scarf in general.⠀

This year I'm committed to using bold colours together in interesting ways. I've found courage because I'm learning how to build palettes BEFORE beginning my project (I know, revolutionary). You know when you love, love, LOVE a photo and you wish you could put together something similar? Me too. And now I'm learning how to create knitting projects from them. Online palette generators take photos and give you a colour scheme. You know it all works together because you can see it in the photo. Need more? This is such a sweet scarf and a dead easy pattern for those wanting to enter the world of circular knitting + lace knitting. Look for "Mock Mobius Cowl" by Ann Squire on Ravelry.

I'm trying to be more intentional slash professional when choosing my project palette so I'm using tools to help me. Not that I don't love winging it (hey, will these colours work together? Who knows, let's find out!) but I'm MAYBE tired of being wrong.⠀

There are amazing free tools called palette generators and you can upload an image and it pulls out all the colours for you. From there all you have to do is buy the yarn.⠀

I always say this toque is inspired by Sweden and I hope you can see why! Also, I just love mixing in a little bit of interest using a contrasting colour. Maybe I'm working my way up to Fair Isle.

I created this toque when I was in the midst of de-stashing my yarn horde and I kind of love it. The multi-coloured stripes add such intrigue against the dark grey! How do you come up with your colour combos?

I asked my husband if I could have a knitting room in our new house and he laughed. But I wasn't joking! Enough with stuffing my stash under the couch and in closets. It deserves better.

Who else's knitting is directly influenced by the weather? I'm freezing cold and all of a sudden I'm inspired to knit up blankets and scarves. How strange!
