Todays study in Chapter 8 Color. What you are seeing here is the beginning of the Intermediate Color System. This system is infinite as the possible color combinations from here are endless. Notice the Star Of David-no coincidence 😉!

Less than two weeks away from Music Schools International Langleys Spring Recital! Come catch my act. Tuesday June 20th 8:15-9:15pm. Surrey Arts Centre in the Studio Theatre. I will be performing in my discipline (jazz vocal). Purchase your tickets if you have not already! If possible, please purchase your tickets ahead of time either online (using the link below) or by calling the Surrey Arts Centre at 604-501-5566 (they are closed on Mondays). These tickets are sold on a first come first served basis, as there is limited seating in each recital. Some of our recitals are almost sold out!

Thinking back to this piece I remember using the emphasis of Asymmetric Balance. Asymmetric Balance (weirdly also called Occult Balance) organizes the picture not with a natural sense of equilibrium but by how the artist is communicating it by means of an expressed intuition. I remember studying how this is typically done using colour, shape and space. Though I used these elements; consistent with this pieces theme an interior space, I also allowed for lines of perspective as noticed at the top.

Let the fun begin…. After 3 1/2 years in voice lessons (jazz) I am excited to be participating in this years Spring Recital at The Surrey Arts Centre. Come see the hard work put in by these amazing & talented musicians! I will be contributing a song number yet to be determined.

Throughout the journey as an artist it always seems that you’re only as good as your next project. My attempts while executing a piece seem to question if I qualify as an artist at all. Doubts set in through various stages of the developing where a single brushstroke can make or break its equilibrium. It’s like walking a tightrope. One moment you’re winning the next losing. My hope was to achieved successful outcome with this work.

- Variety/use of drying time
- Neighbouring, tertiary & complimentary colours
- Balance/symmetry
- Perspective
- Value, hue & intensity shifts

- Throughout the process, drying times to play a factor, utilizing building layers allowing flexibility of some forgivable results.

- Broad brush techniques for expressive elements
- More emphasis of loose interpretation
- (Technical) Abstract vs expressive analysis
- Movement/direction by means of colour, value (receding vs advancing) & textural brushwork

A beautiful story in completing this portrait of my Mom. After its completion, my Mom brought this frame back from where she volunteered @ “Life’s Second Chance” thrift store. A very fitting narrative❤️.

How do you top an evening @ IL Museo and Gallery/IL Centro/The Italian Culture Centre w/ wonderful people? Why Spaghetti of course…..inspired by a recent (& much better) serving by my Moms neighbour & friend Jean ❤️.

I recieved a huge compliment today ❤️. A friend I’ve known for years (shall remain anonymous 😉) with a recording studio reach out to me as he had seen a little vocal clip I sent him. It was a big boost of encouragement to be recognized by him as through the years I’ve often wondered if my journey nurturing my vocal ability would or could ever lead me to his door.

It is such a huge hi lite of my art career thus far to be featured in preview magazine. I was allowed the privilege amongst my contemporaries for this little but monumental corner for our exhibition-

After today I think I’m going to make a career pivot to Art Super fan😮. I was deeply inspired with the amazing art on display with my direct arts community. The “Amplified Voices” Soft Opening held at IL Museo and Gallery in Vancouver. The show runs April 20-July 31 with Opening Night May 11.
