I had a few “vintage” watercolours that I decided warranted being packaged up! I have decided to put them up for sale. These were some of my first dabbling’s in WC, and have been hanging in my art room as a reminder of where I started and why I love this medium so much. The first one in blue is featured on my Redbubble, the second one is currently being featured as a tea label (if you haven’t been there, what are you waiting for?!) and the third one, well, it’s just there cause I like things in 3’s🤣

The “not so exciting side” of the process. Cutting mats and backing board this morning! I will say though, it is pretty satisfying to see your art in a mat you cut! 😉

I spent my morning exploring some new tree paintings, and ended up with quite a bit of paint leftover. It’s an unspoken rule with most watercolour artists, we rarely wash our paint palettes! Needless to say, this combination of sap green and indanthrene blue needed to find its way to a new project! There is something so soothing about these colours, naturally, I did some rocks😉🎨

With only a few weeks till my next art show, I’m busy working on some smaller pieces!

It’s been so hot, to hot to even find some creative juices. After a couple of really tough days, I sat down yesterday and made some bookmarks! Nothing big, but SOMETHING, and when it comes to creative self care, that something is BIG!

All my bookmarks will be at my next show, August 25th, and they are always for sale here! $8 ea. or 3 for $20!

These super sweet mini prints are a collection of some of my favorite quotes featuring my watercolour designs! You can purchase the 5” by 5” print alone or finished with a shadow box frame! Ask me for details!!

They say you are never to old to chase a dream…however, I may have underestimated just how much work I had to do to actually pull this off! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks of organizing, ordering and prepping. The entire main floor of my house looks like a bomb went off, it’s a little stressful but quite exciting to see things come together!!

Art in the Park is happening this Saturday and it’s going to be a great day to come meet some local Airdrie Artists, including me!!

It’s been a long week of big scary steps & prepping for an art show (July 20th, details to come!) Today, I opened my first real printed card order, 21 of my paintings!! This is something I have wanted to do for a LONG time, it finally happened!

I have one simple goal for this year, take risks! Step out of my comfort zone, put myself and my work out there! Sounds easy enough, right?! So far, I’ve done a lot, and each of these little steps has pushed me to the edge of comfort just a little more! Now, I’m looking at pushing myself a little more and reminding myself as I go through this journey to just “start”! Make a phone call, reach out to someone with questions, say yes to a “scary” opportunity…just get started!

This larger than usual balanced rock painting makes me wonder if I’m seeking a little more balance than usual?! Despite the fact it’s been a “rocky” start to my holidays, I’m seriously loving this creation! Hopefully, now that I’m feeling a little more human again, I can focus on enjoying these few weeks of break time!!

Every once in a while I get to do something really special! This is Lisa, she is one of our Assistant Principals. I can speak to just how wonderful she is because I had the pleasure of working with her during my time as a Learning Assistant!! Over the last few weeks, I got to participate in a very top secret collaboration with a few hundred of her students and staff as they prepared to say goodbye and wish her well at her new school! May this art piece be a reminder of all the hearts you have touched at RJ Hawkey, Lisa Guy! ♥️🫶

Let’s be honest, how many of us are any good at that? Life gets busy and you can’t always fit it all in. I tend to get frustrated with the endless list of “to dos” against the lack of time…and energy! I am trying to cut myself more slack, slow down and spend time doing things I actually want to do, like paint! At the end of the day, the chore list isn’t going anywhere…I’ll look at it tomorrow!

Today I was early for an appointment, so I wondered through an art store just down the street from the doctors office (dangerous). I stood there staring at these MASSIVE canvases. I would buy one of those, with a brand new collection of acrylic brushes and paints! I already know what I would paint too!
