Three rides. One destination. Riders from all backgrounds coming together, to bring awareness and change.

Our motorcycle ride will have three starting points this year: Hamilton, Niagara and Kitchener/ Waterloo. All rides will converge at the Niagara Regional Native Centre which has generously offered to host us once again.

Riders will be able to learn about Indigenous culture, and the history and importance of Residential Schools in Canada, with the opportunity to change the narrative. We must recognize our role, as people living on ancestral lands, and bring awareness to the past as well as ongoing issues. By acknowledging the past, and by demanding change and justice, reconciliation can take place.

2021 Season Opening

The 2021 riding season is almost upon us, and with several OFTR riding areas opening on Saturday, May 1st, we would like to encourage our members to follow the latest public health guidelines and emergency stay at home orders when making the decision of where and when to ride. Detailed information regarding the stay at home order can be viewed here. https://covid-19.ontario.ca/zones-and-restrictions
With so many new riders out on the trails, it’s a good opportunity for OFTR members to be ambassadors for our sport and help educate newer riders on the ins and outs of responsible riding, to improve safety and awareness, and help ensure we have continued access to our amazing off-road riding areas for years to come.
Some key points of our Rider Code of Conduct include:
• Ride on existing trails only and do not trespass on private property
• Expect and respect other users, they have a right to use the trails too
• When you see a horse; stop, turn off your engine, remove your helmet and wait for instructions
• Comply with all legislation, by-laws and insurance requirements
• Practice “all the gear, all the time” and always wear a helmet and other safety equipment
• Pack in and pack out so you leave the place better than you found it
• Use trails according to permitted uses and make sure to check trail conditions
• Ride sober at all times
• Save the riding for the trails and not the parking lot
• Keep your motorcycle quiet at a maximum of 94 decibels
If the start of the season wasn’t enough good news for you, the OFTR will shortly be launching our new online trail mapping system, RideOFTR, so keep an eye out for our upcoming announcement.
We wish all our members a safe and happy start to the season.
