Barbados was once known as little England. On November 30, 2019 local Bajans and the Barbadian diaspora, proudly celebrated 53 years of fostering culture, customs and communion that have become the reasons why Barbados is such a beloved island to visit. Independence allowed this island to flourish and become a major destination spot for anyone who wants to visit an island and be amongst the local community in order to experience its rich and honourable heritage.
This is why it was so important for us to be in attendance and proudly participate at the Barbados Independence Celebration Fundraiser Discover Barbados event here in Toronto on Saturday. We had so much fun there where we caught up with old friends and made new ones.
How did you all celebrate Independence? Share with us in the comments.

October is breast cancer awareness month. According to the Canadian Cancer society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancers) and is the second leading cause of death from cancer in Canadian women. It is also estimated that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. It does not only occur in women, but it also occurs in men but not as common.
While there are many risks of breast cancer, there are some things we can do to reduce our risks of breast cancer. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, some things we can do are:
1. Maintain a healthy body weight
2. Engage in regular physical exercise
3. Limit alcohol intake to 1 drink per day
Remember we should regularly check our breasts every month for any lumps and if we do find any, visit our family doctor as soon as possible.

To burn off those extra calories we’ll consume this weekend, here are some fun activities to do with the family in the GTA:
1. Nature hikes on trails
2. Guided walks hosted by Parks Canada
3. Turkey Trots

Thanksgiving is in a few days and it's a time where we reflect on what we're grateful for. While it's an opportune time to do so, we should make gratitude a daily habit.
Some of the things I'm grateful for: laughter 😆(finding humour in the smallest thing); solid friendships we develop with persons around the world ; and last but not least, the food we eat everyday.
What are you grateful for? Share in the comments below.
