If you only knew the journey it took to get here and how grateful I am now to be making music in a healthy way, on my own terms, from my heart…

Feeling so thankful lately 🌱🙏🏽

It was great speaking with CTV LIVE this morning all about Women In The Studio 2024. Thank you for giving Music Publishers Canada and I the platform to share our excitement about this exciting programming - aiming to raise the profile of gender minoritized songwriters, producers and engineers in the industry 🎛️🎙️🎶

Excited to share that I am a part of Canadian Music Publisher's Women In The Studio 2024 💫

I am so looking forward to the knowledge sharing, mutual support and community to be gained from being in this year’s cohort. I love producing and mixing music and this passion of where our creativity intersects with technology is a shared love amongst so many of us musical humans!

This moment

Going through the pictures from Shannon Payne Photography and just had to share this one!🫶🏻🫶🏻 Alysha Brilla was so amazing not only as a performer but with all the kiddos as well! We are so lucky to have such great musicians at the Levitt AMP Earlham Music Series!❤️

Thank you so much to the Levitt Foundation, Summer of the Arts and Anderson Japanese Gardens and all the lovely people who welcomed my music in the U.S.

We met so many wonderful people, had such amazing hospitality and very meaningful, heartfelt conversations.

The family friendly stages in such beautiful outdoor spaces bringing the public together for accessible live music was a big medicine to my heart and the sense of community was felt strongly. I love that Levitt stages bring diverse artists to share our stories.

I have so many reflections from this past week about the function of music in communication and social movement. I’m just so grateful to sing these songs and to everyone who sings and dances with me 🎶🌈🎉

Where in the U.S. should we come next?

We won the award for best original song composed by the amazing Qurram Hussain🏆🤎

So grateful for this team and especially to writer/director Fawzia Mirza for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful project

What is a song you listen to that brings you right back to a time?

What a sacred reminder of our connection to the universe.

What did you do yesterday during the eclipse and how did it make you feel?

New York City thank you for welcoming us at The Lincoln Center

This was my first time ever performing in NYC and I am so grateful to have been given the stage to share songs that are dear to my heart with people who are dear to my heart

What an honour to play in one the biggest cities in the world. What a special group of people who run this stage! Give thanks to the curators of colour who uplift our songs and stories.

It’s not easy to tour as an independent artist these days and my band travelled through multiple cancelled flights and driving through storms, but to come together and sing in harmony with a cozy audience in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city was like stumbling upon a little oasis 🏝️🏙️

Thank you to everyone who came out and sang with us. We appreciate your love, support, your musical energy and your heart.

So much love to my special ensemble for this show Joni NehRita Music, Molly Es, Sruti Sarathy

Today we felt the earthquake as we were leaving NYC and as dense and incredible as the city is, it was a reminder that the earth is there under our feet, always.

I want to come back to NYC soon and see everyone I missed. Thank you for the quick glimpse of this cultural mycellial wonder ❤️

Thank you Arthur Mola for these sweet shots from premiere 📸

I’m so proud to be a part of this film and to share this important storytelling with the world

I see so many parts of myself in this film and it is relatable for so many of us integrating past generations into who we are today 💫

So honoured to be nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for the original musical score I composed and produced for the magical film The Queen Of My Dreams.

Collaborating on this film with the directors and producers was the best thing I have done in my career so far. I’ve learned so much throughout this process. Thank you to director and producer team Fawzia Mirza and Andria Wilson for the opportunity to work with you on this story and weave together worlds through music

If you are a member of the Academy of Cinema and Television you can vote online until Monday ✨

I am so incredibly proud of this movie, this team and I am especially grateful for the support of all of you for going to see it! It’s in theatres now so tell your friends! 🎥

Against the backdrop of a shared obsession with Bollywood fantasy, Mariam, a Pakistani Muslim woman, and her Canadian-born daughter Azra come of age in two different eras

The Queen Of My Dreams opens in theatres this Friday all across Turtle Island and I am excited to share this meaningful, rarely told story and film written and directed by Fawzia Mirza that I had the gift of creating and composing the musical score for.

This is an independent film and will be showing at select Cineplex Theatres and Independent theatres, including Princess Cinemas in Waterloo, so come enjoy a colourful and warm musical journey through time this weekend.

Thank you so much in advance for supporting q***r, gender diverse Muslim storytelling. I am so proud of this film and can’t wait for you all to see it! 🤎🎥

This is such a meaningful nomination and I’m proud to say that this independent Canadian film has received five nominations! I am so grateful to have been a part of this music spirited film and be journeying alongside its release in this world with the wonderful humans who created it.

There is so much magic in this film 🤎

I want to share this beautiful and moving book of poetry that speaks to connection to land, Indigeneity, ancestors and relationality in such an invigorating and inspiring way.

Written by Jess Housty; a Haíɫzaqv poet, herbalist and land based educator amongst their many incredible offerings to community, “Crushed Wild Mint” speaks to the threads that tie all that is together - the natural and the supernatural- connecting further to the core of ourselves in these times of great change and revolution.

If you are looking for what to read next or for a special and meaningful gift to give someone, Crushed Wild Mint feels like the medicine of the plant, itself; a transformative sensory offering which I highly and wholeheartedly recommend 🌱📖

Thank you so much to everyone who has been listening to and sharing my music this past year, coming out to shows and supporting this journey in all the special and meaningful ways that you do. I appreciate you so very much.

When you send me messages and share your reflections about my music and lyrics it means the world to me. I am absolutely community built and it is through all of your support that I continue to create as an independent artist, music producer and creator.

I’m excited to be writing and working on a new album this next year and I can’t wait to share these new songs with you all. So much love to you ❤️🫶🏽

Working in the Heiltsuk Nation with Frances D Brown on a very special project for Haíłzaqvḷa language revitalization through music ❤️🌊

There will be whale songs (the whales visited us this week), eagle songs and raven songs in the recordings, the voices of elders and language learners and I can’t wait for everyone to hear this very special collection of children’s music. Studies consistently show that music helps immensely with language learning.

Giaxsixa Frances for bringing me here.
