It was a long evening (3.5 hours) but we managed to revive the ice so we can skate tomorrow! We will be back out in the am doing one more flood (please message if your interested in helping out).

And most importantly, spread the word and come on out tomorrow! Bring your friends, family, neighbours, all are welcome. There will be hot dogs, cookies and warm drinks. It’ll be a lot of fun for all ages.
Tip Tap Pay will be providing devices that will allow you to tap your cards to donate.

Gonna be a long night - doing our best to make the ice skateable!

Thanks to the local teenagers checking out the ice and helping out. Who’s ever kids they are they are gems.

We checked the ice this morning and with the wind we are unable to shovel and flood. This is due to snow causing issues with freezing the ice. We are hoping that this afternoon the wind dies down and we can flood and get the ice to skating condition for tomorrow.

We may have to pull an all nighter to accomplish this. We will keep everyone updated today on progress.

Due to ice conditions caused by warmer weather this week, we aren’t going to be able to have the ice in good skating condition for Saturday. The event is still on but will be on Sunday instead and we will be working all day Saturday to revive the ice!

Fundraising Event

We are looking to do a fundraising event for rinks this Saturday or Sunday and would love to see your support. We are hoping this weeks weather doesn’t hinder our plans and wreak havoc on the ice.

If anyone would like to help or volunteer to make it a great event for the orchard community please reach out to us.

It is hard to plans these events due to weather and support and apologize for the late notice.

✅✅✅ RINKS OPEN ✅✅✅

After working from 8pm to 1am last night and 9-11am this morning the rinks are back in shape for skating - lots of work went into fixing the ice from the warmer weather, then rain then snow. It was in the worst condition we have ever seen but the local dads worked their magic - hats off to them.

Please remember rinks close at 10pm as per city rules.

Leisure vs Hockey
Generally speaking the right rink is the “hockey rink” and the left rink is the “leisure rink” however our goal is to get people on the ice! If there is no one around leisure skating then feel free to use it for hockey. If you arrive to leisure skate and there’s people playing hockey on both you may kindly ask if you could have a rink to skate on. If the new small rink would serve your purpose then problem solved!
We will not be policing the rink. Work with your community members and have fun!

We’ve had a very successful start so far! The double rink is working out great, they seem to always be pumping. We’ve had some questions about how to help fundraise this year. We have created a Brada rink email and just set it up to auto deposit to a separate account. Two rinks does mean double the water bill unfortunately. We are also hoping to purchase a second heated hose to help with floods. If you are able to help support the cost please E-transfer to [email protected]

The ice isn’t in the best shape today after kids went on (after our flood last night) even with it being closed.

Some of the crew will try and see what we can do this afternoon during our breaks to get it back up to code for this evening as temps get down below zero.

Due to the warmer weather and not being able to flood the past two days because of a frozen tap, the rink is closed tonight. We had to do a patch job due to a hole in the ice. Hoping it will be good to go tomorrow.

Due to the warmer weather coming the rinks will be closed all day on January 9th.

If we stay off of them tomorrow it’ll save them from getting any big cracks that would effect the rest of the season. Thank you for your understanding.

The Brada Rinks are OPEN!

Please respect others by maintaining social distancing. If the rink is getting crowded and you have been there a while, take a break and give someone else a turn. This a community rink meaning it is up to YOU to keep it safe and fun for everyone. The Brada Rink volunteers strictly monitor and maintain the ice, not the people using it. Please be respectful of the ice as it takes many hours and big commitment to keep it in tip top shape. If you have a shovel and are able to bring it with you to help clear the snow build up through out the day (Zambonie) that would be greatly appreciated.

We have two rinks this year, one for hockey and one for leisure skating.

We are getting set up for another year of skating. This year we have been able to get two rinks so we can have a hockey rink and a leisure skating rink.

Hey everyone the Brada Rink Maintenance crew have begun cleaning up around the rink as the 14 day forecast looks as though we won’t be getting anymore below freezing temps to continue to maintain the rink.

We are hoping to get approved for two rinks at Brada next year and will need extra money to maintain that one due to the extra water costs.

We hope everyone had fun skating this season and although we hope to get a couple more skates in this year - we just don’t see the weather allowing us.

We were able to open the rink on December 27th so we got roughly 8 weeks of skating in which is great.

Mother Nature strikes again. We have to close the rink for the remainder of the day due to the softening of the ice. Luckily it will get cold enough for us to flood several times and get it back into shape to skate tomorrow.

We have to send out a huge thank you to Dalton Savoie and Savvy Plumbing and Drain Services! Dalton is an absolute gem and took time out of his day to install an anti-freeze tap for us (and donated the materials as well) to ensure we don’t have anymore frozen tap issues when we flood.

If you ever need a plumber - Dalton is your guy, don’t look anywhere else because you will never be disappointed with his services, punctuality or communication.

We just a heavy flood on the rink and it won’t be ready till the morning please ensure the older kids stay off tonight so they don’t damage it.

The weather once again has caused us to close the rink for the day. The Ice is in great condition and closing it today will allow us to maintain it from tomorrow and the days ahead.

The ice is already starting to soften with the warmer weather and especially the sun being out.

The ice is in really rough shape since yesterday’s warm damp weather.

We are flooding today, calling “The Great Flood of Brada” lol - we plan to flood all day today to build up the ice for lots of skating on the weekend and moving forward.

We are finally into a week of solid weather and skating every day next week!
