🚨⚠️ New Vaccine Passport Bylaw Passed! ⚠️🚨

restaurants, bars, movie theatres and other businesses must ask patrons for proof of COVID vaccination or a recent negative test.

The bylaw takes effect Thursday, and businesses and customers that shirk the rules could face a $500 fine.

The bylaw also covers casinos, bingo halls, entertainment and recreation centres, museums, art galleries, meeting spaces, sports and performance events, adult recreational sport groups, recreation classes and amenities like pools in hotels and condos.

"We are facing an emergency that requires immediate action to save lives and prevent a disaster in the health-care system."

*** Alberta is announcing a proof of vaccinations program for certain discretionary services. ***

New measures announced effective as of 12:01am on September 16:
* Masking will continue in public places
* Social distancing of 2m is mandatory
* Private indoor social gatherings for vaccinated individuals limited to those in the same household plus one other household to max of 10
* Unvaccinated people 12 or over are banned from all indoor public events
* Outdoor social gatherings permitted for up to 200 people
* Places of worship limited to 1/3rd capacity, masking required, physical distancing must be maintained between households
* Mandatory work-from-home order unless employer determines working in-person necessary
* Masking mandatory at workplaces, applies to visitors inc. contractors

At schools:
* Mandatory masking in place for students in Grade 4 and up, plus class cohorting
* Youth 18 or under not required to mask or physical distance during physical activities
* No restrictions on outdoor activities
* These all also apply to day camps

Effective September 20:

* Indoor weddings/funeral ceremonies limited to 50 people or some % of capacity (missed this)
* Indoor receptions not allowed
* Outdoor receptions may have up to 200 people
* Indoor dining will close immediately for bars/restaurants
* Outdoor dining may continue. close contact rule
* No liquor sales after 10 p.m.; no consumption after 11 p.m.
* Restricted capacity at retail to 1/3rd capacity also applies to: movie theatres, libraries, museums, galleries, racing centres, bingo halls, water entertainment, indoor fitness, recreation, sports, dance/yoga studios, swimming polls, gymnastics.

Restriction exemption program
Starting September 20, discretionary events and businesses must follow one of these 2 options:
Implement the Restrictions Exemption Program requiring proof of vaccination or negative rapid test result to continue operating as usual, or
Follow capacity and operating restrictions

Ideally this isn’t too little, too late.

New steps to help reduce pressure on hospitals:
* $14M for short-term staffing for home care and continuing care facilities
* $22M over two years to increase pat for home care aides

So really… nothing to address the increase in cases and pressure on 🙄🙄

, and Dr. Hinshaw have finally returned with some new COVID-19 measures. Alberta currently leads the country in COVID-19 cases.

Some notable quotes from the conference:

• Recommending small gatherings of no more than 10 people for unvaccinated folks
• Recommending people continue to work from home

Established in 1999, La Vienna has some of the most authentic and fresh Italian cuisines I've ever tasted.
𝗜 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆!

We started off our meal with some lovely 𝘗𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘈𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘰 𝘎𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘛𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 & 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘩 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥. #𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐋𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠

The 𝘗𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘈𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘰 𝘎𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘛𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 was delicious, after all, you can never go wrong with some toasted herb bread with garlic butter. ⭐️: 7/10

For our mains, we tried the 𝘍𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘈𝘭𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘰 𝘸. 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘯 and 𝘍𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘪 𝘋𝘪 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘢.

The 𝘍𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘈𝘭𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘰 is a true and tried classic. This lovely fettucini in a classic parmesan cheese and cream sauce is one you generally can't go wrong with at any restaurant. It was, however, kind of odd that the chicken breast wasn't sliced. Though the chicken was well seasoned and grilled, having to cut it while eating took away from the experience. ⭐️: 6/10

I 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 anything to do with seafood and pasta! Combining them is the absolutely perfect meal! When I saw the 𝘍𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘪 𝘋𝘪 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘢 I knew I could get nothing else! This very hot and mildly spicy seafood pasta has very generous portions of jumbo shrimp, jumbo scallops, crab meat
and mussels, served with onions, red peppers, mushrooms, asparagus and pine nut basil in a tomato and cream sauce on a bed of linguini. This dish was so good! I'm totally drooling writing this! ⭐️: 9/10

Say hello to one of the newest 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁 & 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝘀 in Calgary - .

We were out for dinner one lovely Friday evening, and just happened to spot next door.
We definitely needed something sweet after dinner and waited about 15 minutes for a table.

I don't know about you but I find dessert bars are seriously lacking in Calgary, so I was happy to see and try out the dishes at
this new cafe!

We tried the: 𝗡𝗼-𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗸𝗲; 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗸𝗲; 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗸𝗲.

(⭐️: 7/10) 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗸𝗲: I quite enjoyed the cake, it was a moist bundt cake filled with a cream cheese mouse. It wasn't overly sweet and came with a side of vanilla ice cream. I didn't enjoy the cracker crumbs on the side - thought they took away from the dish and made it less presentable.

(⭐️: 2/10) 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗸𝗲: This 3-layer vanilla cake with sprinkles and a vanilla buttercream comes with a birthday cake ice cream on the side. Overall, it was dry. We were also disappointed in the taste, i've had better Birthday Cake from my local grocery store.

(⭐️: 4/10) 𝗡𝗼-𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗸𝗲: The no-bake fruit cheesecake is filled with strawberry compote and topped with Chantilly cream & strawberry compote sauce. It was fairly decent. Nothing to write home about. The graham cracker crust was a little hard.

𝗜𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹, 𝗜'𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 @𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 ⭐️ 𝟰/𝟭𝟬.

The aesthetic is wonderful and they had some awesome music courtesy of a live DJ. Food wise, the desserts aren't fresh, they're in display cases and dressed up when ordered. I would likely have rated this place higher if the desserts were fresher.

The following will continue until September 27:
• Mandatory masking order is in publicly accessible transit, taxis and ride-shares
• Mandatory isolation for 10 days for those with COVID-19 symptoms or a positive test result
• Testing at assessment centres for any symptomatic individuals

These measures were supposed to end on August 16, however, cases continue to increase and vaccination rates stagnant. Currently, the number of people in hospital is 62% higher than anticipated.

For those with kids going back to school:
• Masking will not be universally required, but will need to be worn on school buses
• School divisions can exceed provincial health requirements
•Vaccine clinics will be held at schools for those in grades 7-12, starting September 07.

Canada is getting a vaccine passport for international travel, Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino announced on Wednesday.

The vaccine certificate will be common across all provinces, and will include the holder’s COVID-19 vaccination history, the date they got it, the type of jab they received and the location where they received their shot. It will be available to all citizens, permanent residents, and temporary residents living in Canada who are fully vaccinated.

“If the provinces wish to work with us in order to use our federal credentials within their province, we would be happy to work with them,” LeBlanc said.

We actually had no idea how famous this little food cart was until we came across the absolutely insane line-up and then had no choice but to try it out 😜!

After scarfing down a combo platter (and 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 because of how 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘇𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘆 the hot sauce was), we were 𝓲𝓷 𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮!

When I heard was coming to Calgary, I was so excited!

𝗨𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆... 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 😕.

We tried the chicken platter and the beef gyro platter. Each platter comes with your choice of meat, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, pita bread and their famous white sauce and hot sauce.

I wasn't a fan of how small the meat was cut (𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘧/𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘯 - 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦!), how much
rice there was compared to the meat (𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘵: 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 - 𝘵𝘰𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦), and the lack of any real seasoning (𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘶𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘶𝘤𝘦).

I awarded 3 points for the free pop 🥤refills, and the service (they had an employee come around at various times asking if anyone would like more white sauce).

If you're looking for amazing 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗻 & 𝗘𝗴𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 food, you need to check out 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩 & 𝘾𝙖𝙛𝙚.

We ended up on for a wonderful date night and as we browsed the various places to eat, we
happened to see and decided to check it out. It's a charming restaurant/cafe with a lovely patio!

We tried the Trio Mix Grill which came with skewers of grilled lamb, ground beef, chicken (shish taouk) and shrimp.
Included in the Trio Mix Grill is grilled vegetables, fries, tahini and garlic sauce, as well as a garden salad.
We requested the garden salad be changed to the Fattoush and added a serving of naan bread.

I absolutely loved the shish taouk and the grilled lamb skewers! They were well marinated in a delicious array of spices
and so soft and juicy. 𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘪 𝘴𝘢𝘶𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮!

It was a couple of insanely hectic months but everything was absolutely perfect and I can’t believe it’s already been a month and a half 💕

These amazing waffles have cardamom custard, browned butter, village vanilla ice cream, maple syrup, whipped cream, bruleed bananas, seasonal fruits, and edible flowers. Doesn’t that sound absolutely divine? 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀!

Next we tried the 𝘿𝙖𝙣 𝘿𝙖𝙣 𝙉𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙬𝙡. Historically sold on the streets of Sichuan, Dan Dan noodles are making their way in the world. I for one, am absolutely pleased about that. This lovely dish consists of hand-pulled noodles, a spicy sauce made of house brewed sweet soy sauce, sesame paste, sichuan style chili oil, Chinese aged vinegar, and other yummy things! It was topped with minced beef, edamame, corn, scallions and a fresh poached egg!

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw stated today:

"There are a very limited number of health issues for which a mask exemption is possible," Dr. Deena Hinshaw told a news conference.

"Effective today, in order to verify that someone has a medical condition that makes them unable to wear a mask, Albertans with these conditions will require a medical exception letter from a health professional,"

The list of health conditions includes people with sensory processing disorders, developmental delay, cognitive impairment, some mental illnesses, facial trauma or recent surgery, contact dermatitis or allergic reactions to mask materials, and clinically significant respiratory distress.

Calgary Police are seeking witnesses in two hate-motivated incidents.

First incident involved graffiti of a Black Lives Matter logo and the second was a road rage incident against an elderly Asian man.

I've been on the hunt for an amazing 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗸𝗲 and I finally found it at one of the newest bakeries in town: !

I'm hoping she's available because I totally want her to make my 𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗔𝗞𝗘!!!

When we started looking for cakes, my sister worded it perfectly, "𝘸𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦!"

Too often, we've had to give up one for the other, and it's really 𝗻𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗼.

We sampled the 6-pack cupcake variety, mini cherry cheesecake and the pistachio macaron (𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙-𝙨𝙪𝙜𝙖𝙧 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙖𝙮 😋)!

The cheesecake was pretty much the best cheesecake I've ever had! It was fluffy, not overly-sweet and had just the perfect amount of crust - we devoured these in the car!

The cupcakes, especially those with the cream cheese frosting, were my favourite! The cake is moist, tasty and leaves you wanting more (just between us... I think I ate like 3 in one day!).
