Here are a few of the wonderful benefits of massage therapy !
✨Improves quality of sleep : It can actually force the body to relax, pulling muscles smooth and long again and causing an increase in blood circulation. These send signals to the brain that tell it to relax. Over time, massage can intervene in this cycle and end hyperarousal, allowing us to sleep well again.
✨Enhances circulation : There are two main types of circulation within the body, the circulation of lymph flow and the circulation of blood flow. When circulation is poor conditions such as swelling, tightness, tension and pain can increase. During a massage, the stimulation of improved circulation occurs when friction is created between the skin and fingers.
✨Stimulates movement of lymphatic fluid : Lymphatic drainage is the removal of waste products from a person's body through lymph fluid. A massage uses a variety of different techniques to help increase lymphatic drainage. Increased lymphatic drainage can help reduce swelling and increase recovery
✨Improves joint mobility : Massage helps increase flexibility by increasing tissue elasticity. Massage applies pressure to muscle fibres, stretching and elongating them. Stretching muscle fibres is important to increase flexibility.
✨Relieves stress : Massage helps relieve stress by lowering the heart rate, increasing relaxation, and releasing feel good hormones. Emotions such as anxiety and depression can be reduced once stress levels are decreased. Receiving a massage is beneficial to increasing the feeling of content and well-being.
✨Improves mental alertness : Massage therapy has been known to lower stress, decrease anxiety, and reduce irritability. Along with increasing brain serotonin and dopamine, the combination of these effects lead to a happier individual.
✨Boost immune function : Studies show that massage can increase the level of lymphocytes, which are the cells that help the immune system fight off harmful substances in the body
✨Reduces tension in muscles : Remedial massage helps to stretch and loosen muscles by encouraging an improvement in blood flow. An improvement in blood flow rises muscle temperature, allowing the stretching and loosening of muscles to occur.
✨Speeds healing of soft tissue injuries : It increases circulation, which works to decrease swelling. Massage therapy is used to relieve muscle tension. This relief helps with the prevention of soft tissue pain. It also increases flexibility while promoting faster healing of soft tissue injuries and other injuries
✨Eases muscle pain : Massage can assist the healing of damaged fibers by increasing blood circulation. Increased blood circulation provides an increase of oxygen and nutrients to an area. An increase of oxygen and nutrients can help repair fibers, decreasing inflammation and pain. Massage can help reduce muscle tightness caused by DOMS.

My name is Jess, and I’m an RMT working in Calgary, AB. I graduated earlier this year from Alberta College of Massage Therapy’s 2200hr program.
I have previous experience working in healthcare, primarily long term care and dementia. I have a passion for helping people live their best, pain & stress free life. I understand the importance of maintaining our health and well-being at all stages of life.
I offer a variety of modalities, including : therapeutic, deep tissue, dynamic cupping, relaxation, myofascial release and prenatal. I work hard to creat a unique and individualized treatment for each client who comes to see me.
