The ME Project
We are here to help end impaired driving by committing to drive sober. #MEproject2022
It’s the long weekend, we know boating is fun, but boating doesn’t have to be deadly. Drive sober, don’t ruin your long weekend or others by driving under the influence
Think twice, don’t put your lives or others at risk by making poor choice
A quick hour nap and some water doesn’t sober you up. Learn the facts
Remember that your life and others lives are worth more than making a bad choice to drive while impaired

Don’t become part of this statistic, drive sober and help make our roads safer
When the side of a road on a beautiful summer day becomes a place to remember those we love, killed by impaired drivers. 17 days until it’s been 2 years since Macy and Ethan were killed. Please drive sober.
Did you know this? Think twice before you get behind the wheel while impaired
Ontario is taking a step in the right direction to help stiffen up on impaired driving penalties to help make our roads safer.
Help keep everyone safe on your roads by choosing not to drive while impaired and planning for a safe way home
Court Update - Day 2: Richard Bell was sentenced to 7 years in jail for killing Macy Boyce and Ethan Halford. The Crown was seeking 7.5 years and the Defence was seeking 4 years. Richard will also not get his license or be able to drive for 6 years after he is out of jail
Today a precedent was set. Today Macy and Ethan got some form of justice. Nothing will bring them back and nothing will change what happened, but today, a small bit of justice was served
Keep getting loud, keep speaking out. No more impaired driving crashes need to happen. No more lives lost. No more victims
Court Update - Day 1: Today we listened to nearly 70 Victim Impact Statements that were read in court. 70 people is just a fraction of the amount of people that have had their lives changed because of Macy and Ethan’s deaths. Over 80 statements were sent into the courts, each one detailing different ways people’s lives have been impacted by Macy and Ethan, and the ways their lives have been impacted from losing Macy and Ethan. It was a hard and emotional day.
While their time with us was short, it is clear that they left long lasting impacts on everyone they met. The world is a worse place without Macy and Ethan here.
Today, we were so loud. Your pain and your voices are loud. We will never stop being loud for our loved ones we’ve lost because of impaired driving.
Thank you to everyone who wrote a statement, and thank you to everyone who continues to get loud and fight for Macy and Ethan, and all those who are affected by impaired driving
Here is an UPDATE for the sentencing hearing. PLEASE wear a red shirt if you can.
Please share this post so those who are wanting to attend know when and where the sentencing is taking place.
GET UP AND GET LOUD!
Too many lives lost to impaired driving. You have the power to make the choice to driver or not while impaired, choose not to drive
Please be safe, make smart choices
Is driving while high really worth your life? Stop for a moment and think, don’t get behind the wheel high.
It is national impaired driving prevention week. If your friends are going to drive while impaired, make a temporary enemy for the night and take their keys. They’ll thank you in the morning.
Plan ahead this St. Patrick’s day, arrive alive
Today is Ethan’s Birthday. He should be turning 23 and celebrating with friends and family, but instead his friends and family have had to remember and celebrate his life for 2 Birthdays without him, because of an impaired driver.
Today is Ethan’s day, live life to the fullest just like Ethan did. Never take a moment for granted. Celebrate the small things in life. And always be grateful you get to be here.
Take a moment today to remember the amazing, kind, passionate and funny person Ethan was. Celebrate the amazing things he did and the happiness he brought into people’s lives. Our thoughts are with his friends and family, not only today, but everyday.
Happy 23rd Birthday Ethan. We will never stop celebrating you and the love you brought into everyone’s lives.
No one should get multiple chances to hurt or kill others after having already been caught and convicted for impaired driving. Things need to change! Drive sober!
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said impaired driving charges were up for the whole year (2023) compared to last (2022), with a more than 20% increase over the holiday period.
He says the annual festive RIDE campaign, which ran from Nov. 16 to Jan. 1, saw a total of 916 drivers charged with a total of 1,471 charges.
The OPP laid 196 charges in the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, which Schmidt says marks a 21% increase from the same week the prior year.
In a video posted by the OPP on X (formerly know as Twitter), Schmidt says, “We do this because people are dying as a result of preventable causes” and added “Please do your part, make better decisions and be a better driver.”

Have a safe and fun long weekend! Remember to plan ahead and have a safe way home if you plan to go out💗
Keep in mind that these were only the people who were CAUGHT and reported by police… Together we can lower these numbers. with us and let’s put an end to impaired driving for good!
Those numbers should be getting closer to 0, not higher! Let’s do better, plan ahead, have a safe way home. Don’t drive if you are impaired
