Fine Art Wedding/Elopement & Lifestyle Photographer I am newly married since October 1st, 2016, so I know exactly how much work goes into a wedding.

Considering how stressful the process can be, let's make sure the photography from your big day isn't. We can have fun with it. Choosing a wedding photographer isn't something to take lightly; I definitely know that it's a big decision for any couple to make. Trust your gut. Both you and I will know if we are a good fit together, bad jokes and all. Your day matters, whether it be your wedding, a b

Our little nugget turned 1 this past week. It’s been such a wild ride and we are finally happy to return to a normal sleep schedule. Grey has taught us so much and constantly leaves us in awe of how such a little thing can learn so much. Getting to watch her personality grow and becoming her own little person is a journey. From the cackles of her laughter to the love she has for food. I’m just so glad to be her dad. She is ready to start walking, loves to clap and has just learned how to wave back at us. She’s babbling all the time and loves to say dada and mama. She needs to always be holding the toy you have. We can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this year little one. Just please don’t stop wanting to hang out with us over your toys, thanks.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve spent a night exploring the mountains. It might of meant less sleep but my mind was well rested. Nothing like looking up to a sky full of stars.

It was so nice shooting some weddings this year, even if most got pushed to next year. Just great to see that all the stress and hard work of these couples pay off finally. After so much uncertainty, it would feel like such a weight off everyone’s shoulders to finally just get it done. It was nice to get the cameras out of the house and be shooting again. Anyone need to go out and have some fun photos now?

6 months has officially flown by, looking back upon Grey’s life so far has been quite a journey. Looking back at how she’s changed physically and formed her own personality is such a fun thing. It’s been such a joy watching her grow and change every single day. I do wonder if I’ll ever be not tired. If that’s the trade off to be able to see this smiling nugget everyday then I guess I’ll keep being tired. Thanks for all the laughs, smiles and cuddles you’ve given us so far. Can’t wait to show you off to people in person one day.

It feels like forever since I’ve been in the mountains. Nice to know they’ll still be there once this crazy is all over.

The last big event I was able to attend before the world shut down. At least we had a lot of fun!

Oh hey again world, been a few months since I’m made a post that wasn’t a story of our little one. So here’s a photo of some our friends and their little one (who is a wonderful healthy little boy who we can’t wait to meet now). Being at home all the time now makes me grateful that I get to watch our little one grow up little by little. We are just so interested to see how she’ll interact with other baby’s once that’s allowed again.

This photo was taken just hours before I got the phone call from Chelsey telling me she was being induced. Little Grey really threw a wrench in the plans we had made for her birth. Little did I know how the next few weeks would play out as we got to meet our little one and all the things we would learn. It’s been a wonderful 9 weeks so far and I can’t wait to see how this little nugget continues to grow.

Number one goal for me and clients is to just be comfortable and be yourself. Nothing shows up more than someone who is uncomfortable. Photos are always for yourself, they aren’t to impress someone else. They are a memory that you can return to years later and enjoy all over again.

This warm weather is getting me ready for summer to begin, it’s been nice not to wear 5 layers to go outside. Also can’t wait to go for walks with little Grey and show her the neighbourhood.

This last week has been such a whirlwind. Our days are spent in the NICU giving lots of cuddles to little Grey and then our evenings are just zonked out. We never realized how mentally draining life in the NICU would be, it’s not something you can be prepared for. Thankfully we are so blessed with such an amazing group of family and friends surrounding us that life outside of the hospital is real easy. We want to thank everyone who has helped us out in any little and big way. From the pre-prepped meals, to helping finish painting Grey’s room. Even offering us a car seat incase she got out of the NICU earlier than expect and we would have had no way of getting her home safely. We are eternally grateful for all the help and we are sending all those good vibes right into Grey every time we are cuddling her. We can’t wait to bring her home with us, thankfully she was able to be moved from the incubator into an open air preemie crib. So it should hopefully be pretty soon we can show her the home we’ve made for her. Okay time for bed, because We also have to take care of ourselves.

We welcomed miss Grey Sonder Margaret Lowden to the world today at 4:30am. The last 48 hours have been a whirlwind. On Friday at 4:30pm Chelsey’s water ruptured and life went into overdrive. Seeing how she was only 34 weeks pregnant we weren’t expecting this.

Long story short, we went to Rockyview, hoped we could keep baby cooking a little longer while on bed rest without any trouble, but that didn’t up being the case and were advised for mom and baby’s health and safety that kickstarting labour was the best plan. We were told there truly wasn’t a rhyme or reason why this happened, as it only happens in 2-3% of pregnancies. They think possible baby was too big for Chelsey to carry as she’s small, and tiny human decided to bust out of there because let’s be honest, children dictate your life and schedule, not you.

I had to shoot a wedding yesterday so I went to do that with the idea that anything could happen but keeping hopes high that it wouldn’t be an issue. Whoops to that.

Chelsey was induced into labour December 7th at about 2pm. After a relatively short labour, our baby girl showed up just in time for Christmas on December 8th at 4:33am. She will need to hangout in the NICU likely until she’s 36 weeks (December 16th), just so she can fatten up beyond her current 4lbs, 13oz, and make sure her lungs are working the best they can be. So far she’s eating like a champ, with no issues to speak of.

We have returned home to rest, because you can’t really rest in a hospital I think. Our life now will be of hanging out in the hospital and finishing up our home and make it ready for our next adventure. So excited but we got to go to sleep now and rest up for this adventure.

Guys, I swear I’m still alive! These last 2 months have been so incredibly busy for us. I had no idea that living in a new home full of boxes would be so mentally taxing to me. Living in a home with no art and decor is seriously a real bummer. Thankfully the end is near, cuz we need a time to relax. I promise to be sharing more of life’s updates on here more often. Miss you all and huge shoutout to everyone that has helped us in some way with our new home. We are forever grateful 🙏🏻 Can’t wait for it to be done and have people over.

When your crew is all couples, no one can be the 3rd wheel at this wedding. It was such a great day in Canmore this summer that I think about often. Hailee and Quinn’s wedding is easily on my list of favourite weddings this year.

This weathers got me feeling like this. Except instead of a forest, I’m home on my couch with a blanket on. So pretty much the same.

So glad the snow went away for Parker and Alison wedding this weekend. What a party and a half. A+ would attend again if I had the chance.

Our Story

Matt is a lover of bringing people together. After graduating from Alberta College of Art and Design with a bachelor’s degree in photography and design, he started inviting 100+ people on weekly hikes to combine his love for people with his passion for photography. Along the way, he met many incredible people including his wife Chelsey. He will continually tell a lot of bad dad jokes to keep you laughing, all while leaping over fences and traipsing through puddles in order to get the perfect shot of you on your special day.

Chelsey is a creative at heart and a lover of deep conversation. Why talk about the weather when you can talk about what really drives you to get up in the morning? With a background in administration, communications and art, she works with Matt through managing all of the type-A aspects of the business. She keeps tabs on you to ensure that everything you need is being done efficiently and authentically, especially on your wedding day.

After working countless weddings together, we share an equal love for photography. Nothing is more exciting to us than capturing the magic that takes place during a marriage ceremony and the time leading up to the big day. We are big nerds who spend a lot of our spare time watching science and gaming videos on YouTube, following along with Good Mythical Morning, playing video games together, and watching far too many British panel shows. If you’re a nerdy couple, we will get along great! (Board game night, anyone?)

Ultimately, our responsibility is to capture you and your person sharing life with one another and laughing so much that you get an imaginary 6-pack. It’s about the little moments: those small idiosyncrasies between you and your person that aren’t often seen by anyone but you, and having them in a photograph to share with your loved ones forever.
