He's our logistics coordinator, top customer service at the market, does all our shopping every week, and always makes sure there's great products at every Hearts Choices location. On top of that, if there's anything broken, he can probably fix it! Don's Always willing to lend a hand and take time out of his day to help out. He loves chocolate! The History of the Hearts Choices Corn Dog. Safe to say it's one of our most popular items, and one that usually elicits the most excited response. "Oh my god vegan corn dogs!" 😅. When we launched "The Veggie Truck" the first menu we ever made was corn dogs, jackfruit poutine, and yellow curry with rice". But it was the corn dogs that became the signature item for our food truck. And whether someone ate plant based or not, the lineups for these tasty treats wee testament to their deliciousness and nostalgic connection that Calgarians have to these deep fried gems. We tried to keep it a Veggie Truck exclusive, but we had to give in to the pressure and put them on the menu full time at the restaurant, where you can still get them today! I used to stand in front of the deep fryer for 7 hours, prepping hundreds upon hundreds of dogs for big events, as these can't be done any other way than by hand dipping the dogs in our corn meal batter, raising them from.the batter with a twist and a flick, and placing them gently in the hot oil all the while moving them so the batter stays even. Surprisingly, it's the one dish we make at Hearts Choicest that takes the most finess to make, and is usually the last thing that our cooks learn to master 😅.
