I love to see my paintings surrounded by loving furniture, pillows and decor.

It’s amazing how you can change the look of your space and also the art itself can change when you switch out your pillows and wall colours. Small changes make big difference. Just like these 5 piece of which we’re travelling around the country. They all made a pit stop to my studio for some fun minor changes because I was itching to use my fancy new oil sticks. 🤪 The results are crazy. Small changes make a big difference!

Ok, these babies are on display at and right now for their summer collections. Check them out online or in person.

Hey everyone!

You may have seen my stories. Lately I have been posting about training for a 1/2 marathon.

Well!!!! BIG NEWS! Here is my motivation…

I designed this years racing shirts and I figured if I can design the shirt then I should run it too!

I have until September 28th to get into running shape. It’s been hard but so worth it.

Join in the fun! If you want to run I think it’s 95% sold out already but that means there is still 5% room. ☺️

Looking forward to it! (Even if I am a 🐢)

In my latest creations I looked to the rivers edge for inspiration and created multifaceted views.

As someone who has spent a lot of time exploring the lakes and rivers of Saskatchewan and beyond, I can attest to the beauty and importance of our water systems. It’s not just about the stunning scenery - these bodies of water are essential for our ecosystem, our economy, and our way of life. Water plays a significant role in our everyday lives, fostering positive interactions and encouraging a sense of community.

As you explore the latest collection, keep an eye out for some remarkable new mark-making techniques. One exciting discovery I’ve made is the rekindling of my passion for oil sticks. Their transformative qualities are truly remarkable! The smooth, rich, and buttery textures effortlessly glide across the canvas, offering a unique experience of drawing with paint. The sheer thought of using them fills me with a sense of exhilaration and anticipation. The results they produce are truly breathtaking, adding an incredible depth and intricacy to my work.

“RIVERS EDGE”

June 14th - July 12th 2024 in Regina

06/04/2024

There’s a good reason my posts have been scarce
lately.

I’ve been wholeheartedly immersed in creating new pieces for an enthralling exhibition to be hosted
by the wonderful in Regina.

I’m excited to announce that “Rivers Edge” will open on June 14th!

As I prepare to share these new creations, I wanted to offer you a rare glimpse into my inspirational process and research sketches.

With my work, there is so much more than meets the eye—countless hours go into compositional sketches and design layouts before I even pick up a brush. 😳 You can say I might be a little crazy with how much I plan for new painting’s. 🤭

Would you like to be on my special interest list? Send me a DM with your email address!

This past weekend, I bid farewell to a beloved artist friend and mentor, Jean Fosbrooke. It’s hard to realize how deeply someone has impacted your life until they are no longer with you. Jean was a shining beacon in my artistic journey, guiding and encouraging me through her work at Gibson Fine Art Gallery. Without her, I would not be where I am today.

In the months preceding her passing, I was fortunate to spend more time with Jean. She reminded me of what truly matters: connection, friendship, kindness, and love. While she may no longer be with us, her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the art she created. Her presence in my life was truly a blessing, and I will cherish her memory forever.

Thank you for your beautifully written words. I look forward to celebrating her life.

JEAN FOSBROOKE (1938 TO 2024)

It is with profound sadness that we at GFA share the news of the passing of a beloved member of our family, Jean Fosbrooke. Jean joined our team in 2007, bringing with her a wealth of experience and passion from her own venture, Fosbrooke Fine Arts. At the vibrant age of 67, she embarked on this new chapter, contributing significantly to our gallery until she retired at 81.

Jean was not only an integral part of our gallery team but also a respected gallery artist whose work deeply touched all who encountered it. Her unwavering love, dedication, and commitment to the gallery and the diverse artists she worked with have left an indelible mark on our community.

More than her role at the gallery, Jean was a source of inspiration—a testament to living life with passion and purpose. Her spirit, enthusiasm, and profound understanding of art enriched our lives beyond measure.

As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary legacy she leaves behind. Jean’s memory and the impact of her work will continue to resonate within the walls of GFA and in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit lives on in every corner of our gallery and in the art she loved so deeply.

Wow! I am on my way to pick up my son. It’s winter break, time for the holidays! And, I am so excited to wrap my arms around him and spend some quality time with my family. Like most of you I am sure 2023 has been jam packed with work, family commitments, activities, and travel. I know I am ready for a few quiet days! If you are as well. I hope we get some. Cheers to the holidays! Wishing you all the most magical time with the ones you love. ❤️

Photos from Sheila Kernan's post 12/09/2023

Next Up!!! We have three winter inspired paintings packed with colour because that’s how I do it!!!

WINTER is a group exhibition opening today, Dec 9th my birthday. in Winnipeg at their Tuxedo gallery location.

Pretty cool to have two exhibition celebrating art on my birthday for the first time ever! And, I have been painting a long time so pretty fun.

Check out “Stillness” 30x24, “Winters Coming” 36x36, and “The In-Between” 30x30. Now on display in Winnipeg.

12/09/2023

I think this is the first time I have work in two different group shows and both opening weekends are on my on my birthday! First show is in Regina the province where I was born and raised.

WATER exhibition features works from several amazing artists and this pair of waterfalls are mine.

You need to see these delicate beauties in person. There is so much texture implied and actual!!!

“Fulfilling Dreams” and “Sitting in Stillness” 36” tall by 24” wide. Hope you enjoy.

11/23/2023

Every time I pick up my paint brush I learn something new about myself and the materials I use. It’s incredible how after a lifetime of painting I still have so much to learn and explore. Whenever I try something new it absolutely informs things I am familiar with. I look at the materials and the world with an endless curiosity. It’s exciting! And, it’s that continual growth and determination that makes me proud to always be creating! “Waiting From Above” is a perfect example of how I can look at a familiar subject and introduce new techniques patterns and colour combinations. Part of my “Let’s Shake It Up” collection, you can see this baby today!

I really like this post!!!

Have you ever looked at a painting and founding yourself asking questions about the subject matter, techniques, or the intentions of the artist? Francis Bacon said it best, art never ceases to deepen the mystery and enhance our wonder.
