At the Chiropractic Center for Health, we can help you enjoy a more comfortable pregnancy with specific prenatal chiropractic care!

A study in 2016 showed that almost 75% of women who received prenatal chiropractic care had significant pain reduction (1). In addition, an estimated 40% of women who experienced pregnancy-related low back pain continue to report symptoms up to six months postpartum and 20% of women report experiencing low back pain three years later (2).

Prenatal chiropractic care has been shown to improve postpartum low back pain and is recommended as a treatment option for short- and long-term low back pain.

The chiropractors at the Chiropractic Center for Health will adjust the joints in the lower back and pelvis to help decrease pain and improve functional ability. We will also evaluate and address any biomechanical factors that may be altered during pregnancy, including gait and postural changes!

Need a sweet treat to make for your holiday guests? We have another healthy, delicious and easy recipe by Dr. Kate for you! Dark chocolate, pecan and pistachio bark 🤎 Ingredients: * 4oz dark chocolate chips or chocolate bar (Dr. Kate’s personal choice is Lily’s sugar free chocolate chips) * 1 tsp avocado oil * 2 tbsp chopped unsalted pecans * 2 tbsp chopped unsalted pistachios Instructions: 1. Line an 8-inch square pan with wax paper, leaving an overhang. 2. Place the chocolate in a saucepan and slowly melt the chocolate on low heat. If in a rush you can always use a microwave-safe bowl and heat it in 30-second sessions. Stop microwaving when almost fully melted, and stir with a small rubber spatula until fully melted. 3. Mix in the oil. 4. Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared pan. Spread it evenly and smooth it out with a rubber spatula. 5. Sprinkle it with the pecans and pistachios. 6. Cover the pan with a plastic wrap and freeze until set, about 30 minutes. 7. Use a sharp knife to cut into four large squares or eight small ones. You can also cut into four large squares, then cut each large square in half to form triangles. 8. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Enjoy!

We are lucky here in Calgary that we still get to see the sun during winter, however with the days getting shorter we know sun exposure will still be low until next spring! Our northern location also means that most of us are not getting enough of the suns UVB energy to make adequate Vitamin D! Vitamin D has several benefits including: * Enhancing calcium absorption * Increasing the success of fertility treatments and sustaining pregnancy * Regulating cell growth (therefore it can limit the spread of cancer cells) * Improves immune function Vitamin D is best taken in either a liquid form or through intramuscular injection, but how much should you take? The best way to find out is through Vitamin D testing through Dr. Kate for 80$! Book a 15-minute appointment to learn more or to schedule your Vitamin D test! ☀️

Does your child need chiropractic treatment? Children have not always developed enough awareness of their bodies to identify a subtle chronic issue developing. Even when a child is experiencing pain, they may not be able to communicate it to you and it can come across as grumpiness, acting out, or incessant crying! Issues with the spine can also be the source of many other childhood issues. If you are concerned about your child’s spinal health, call our team to set up a consultation today! 👧🏽
