My work teeters between abstract and representational art. My work is, at times, highly expressive,

Close-up of “Daydream”, a little painting 8”X10” heading to the 2023 Juried Show at Homer Watson House & Gallery. Show starts on the 10th! I will be there for the reception on November 17th 7-9pm, it’s a great time to meet the artists!
Just sold these two pieces, and shipped them off to their new home in Florida! Parting with my work is bittersweet. But as long as the work is loved and appreciated, it makes the selling process so much easier. I’m thankful for my collectors, and I can’t scoff at this platform, it has a wonderful way of connecting people, and I’m so very grateful for it!

This little piece just won a 3rd place award at my city’s Annual Juried Show & Sale. Exhibition is now up till November 10th at Cambridge Centre for the Arts.

This is happening Saturday night! I can’t wait to share all the work we’ve been up to with neighbours. The creation process of these lanterns were the most beautiful, unifying thing I’ve experienced in a long time. I’ve been creating with students in schools, hosting public workshops, in assisted living facilities, working with little kids in the farmer’s market. I founded an arts collective called and our little group of artists are the ones making this all happen. If you’re in KW, consider coming, after dark. check it out! I’ll be there to take you through it. I hope you love it.

I might have an attitude problem.
It’s funny how we might assume we’re original beings and our ideas are all our own, but if you really look around, or think about it, we might just be expressing something we’ve heard, read or seen in the past. We’ve been inspired by something and may not even be aware of it.
This painting for instance, I wouldn’t be surprised if the palette was inspired by this corner of my kitchen. Who knows really, but I believe we’re all products of our environment. Copycats! There are pros and cons of this of course, but the lesson I can take from this is to build an awareness of what we’re exposing ourselves to, where those things might come from, and if it’s language or art, then what was it motivated by (if that information is findable).
In short, I strive to stay curious about the origin of my ideas.
42 years young today, darlings. Si vous n’avez pas de pain, mangez plutôt une brioche en mon nom!
Playing around with Clear tar gel. It keeps me loose. Takes me back to when I used to paint with Chocolate. These pretty pieces look delicious under glass.
Dear Son,
I want you to tell you something that took me a long time to learn, so you can arm yourself early as you go out into this complex world.
Our ATTENTION has become a commodity. It has become a FIGHT to be the master of it. Everyone wants it. Protect it. Hold it close.
Society desperately wants us to become CONSUMERS, and CONSUMERS alone. But it's important to remember what we truly are... We are CREATORS. We are here to CREATE. We need to keep checking in, and keep an eye on what we're taking in compared with what we're putting out into this world. We must keep our standards high for both and stay balanced.
Equally, we need to ask ourselves from time to time, is our output authentic? Or is it simply a verbatim reflection of what we consume? Everyone falls into this trap from time to time, we see it in artists as they are big out-putters. We need to periodically ask ourselves; "To what degree are we actually bringing new ideas to the world? And to what degree are we just amplifying the existing? And are these ideas worth amplifying?"
By no means do I expect you to be perfect, I am far from it myself. We're flawed, easily distracted types, you and I. Keeping this in mind, I’ve found that we can arm ourselves by coming back to these 3 fundamental and constant elements to keep things into perspective:
1.Love
2.Family
3.God
Reconnecting with these 3 things will always bring us back to ourselves, our life's purpose, and can help us produce a high quality contribution to this world.
Love you forever,
Mom

Me and my boys made an impromptu trip to Florida to escape the heavy mood in Ontario. And boy, did a bit of sunshine and freedom to breath ever help to reignite my inspiration. I painted this piece last week in St. Petersburg, of my niece. I’m back and ready to do more painting with summer on my mind.
Life drawing makes things feel normal… is that weird?
