Hi - exciting life update 🀍
As I've finished my first week as general manager at The Gym Eternal I feel it's time to officially announce that, YES! I have agreed to take on this new role and I'm very excited to be a bigger part of a team and business that I love!

You can catch me Monday - Friday 9:00-5:00 at The Gym. But I'm still that same ol' late-night gymrat, and will continue to train after 6:00pm.

FIVE tips to make your exercises more effective.

1. Keep Things Simple.
Don't over complicate your workout. You don't need to do a million different exercises. As long as you're engaging and squeezing the intended muscles, it becomes quality of the contraction over quantity of exercises.

2. Eliminate Distractions.
Put your phone down. Focus on you.

3. Lift with Proper Form.
Always! If you're having a hard time connecting with the movement, stop to ensure your form is correct.

4. Slow Things Down.
Don't rush through the movements - it's not a race. Give yourself time to connect with the intended muscles. Keep control through the entire movement.

5. Have a Nasty Playlist.
Staple mark to any good workout. Check your vibe and roll with it!

Impatience. Something we've all suffered from at one time or another.

Trying to squeeze in 1-2 years worth of progress within a couple months. Becoming defeated and giving up or having to start over again.

When the reality is, you need to give your body time to embrace the process and strive for consistency. Not perfection.

It's important to be kind with yourself and realistic with your expectations.

Hello Gym Eternal family, time to welcome our newest Personal Trainer! Here is a little bit about her: Shay moved here from Vancouver Island two years ago with her husband and two pugs to pursue her educational career. She is a University student (Psychology major) studying Body Dysmorphic Disorders & related OCD. She is also an ISSA Elite Personal Trainer who specializes in Bodybuilding, Exercise Therapy and Nutrition. Her backgrounds and experience with hypertrophic training methods allow for a more comprehensive understanding of how to maximize muscle growth while maintaining (and not sacrificing) mobility and/or functionality. She can provide proper training, recovery, motivation and nutritional strategies to achieve your goals - no matter what they are. She has an additional focus on improving internal health (intestinal gut health) to promote, prevent and ensure proper internal functioning as well as reducing chronic bloating and inflammation.

But don't let these specialties sound intimidating. Shay has also worked extensively with beginners, helping them feel comfortable and confident within the gym while providing fitness education such as; proper lifting techniques, form assessments & corrections. She welcomes all fitness levels and believes that everyBODY deserves to feel confident while pursuing their individual goals!
