Oh the beautiful canola. A flower I had never really considered before moving to somewhere that plants acres of them. I had this idea of photographing them in all sorts of ways and lights but alas that shall wait until next year because I learned this year that the farmers don't wait lol they are very busy hard workers with lots to do. Next Year as soon as they bloom I'll be out there capturing their unique beauty.

Just a small view of Mount Carmel, a Roman Catholic Shrine dedicated to "Our Lady of Mount Carmel ( Statue is of Mary and baby Jesus).
Originally, the hill was called spathanaw watchi in Cree, and it means “the mount of the far view”. It was also known as Grosse Butte.
It was first mentioned as Mount Carmel in a report of the Geological Survey of Canada for the year 1873‑74.”

The land was donated to St. Peter's Abbey by John Bunko in 1921 and was dedicated in 1922 by the Abbot of St. Peter's. St. Mary under the title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel became the patroness and protectress of St. Peter's Colony, an area of 50 townships where a large number of German speaking Catholics had settled.

In 1928 a 14 feet high foundation was built by Antonio Molaro for the eight feet high white marble statue of Mary holding the infant Jesus imported from Italy. Molaro also built the chapel and altar at the base of the hill in 1938, and the fourteen stations of the Cross leading up to the shrine in 1939.

(I'll share the Stations of the cross in another post another day, I didn't get them all on this visit and want to post all together)

I truly love the landscape view. I get lost in the moments of my surroundings.
But then there are the quiet small moments that showcase the extraordinary beauty of one thing.
I love getting flowers but I hate that they die so quickly so I photograph them.
They always make me smile when I scroll through and remember who and when they were given to me.
I remove the noise of life and showcase them in all their individual glory.

Sometimes, I thoroughly enjoy stopping in a random spot to just notice the details.
In life, it's good to be able to see the little things in a moment. It can help a huge situation seem much smaller. Playing with focus. In more ways than one. 🥰

A line between chaos and order. A farmers Canola field and the wild flowers/ weeds that grow unruly beside it.
Both sides beautiful and flourishing in their own way.
I love the contrast it reminds me in a way that life's moments can be chaotically beautiful or quiet and contained. All of them making up the intricacies of life.
