By removing one of the patio doors, this allowed us to maximize underutilized space in the back corner of this open concept kitchen/dining area- the perfect canvas for adding a large banquet seating area for dining.

New flooring, a stunning custom table + chairs, and a beautiful chandelier add the warmest finishing touches to this space 🤍

Kitchen details ✨

▪️ Minimal yet meaningful countertop styling selections

Each of these design choices were intentionally selected by myself and the homeowners to ensure that function, individuality and style exist cohesively.

I am so excited to share details of this kitchen transformation with you all!

The two primary goals for this kitchen renovation were to open up the space to allow more than one person to work in the kitchen at a time and to modernize it.

We didn’t end up changing too much with the bones of the original kitchen design, beside opening up the peninsula and slightly extending the cabinetry/countertop to reach the patio door. With these subtle changes, the space feels much larger and allows for a more functional work area!

Living room details 👀

I had so much fun customizing this beautiful sofa from Hambly's Brandsource Home Furnishings, which was our starting point for styling this living room.

From there, we selected this beautiful horseshoe coffee table, which is a work of art itself 😮‍💨 Custom pillows (VEN Design) and this multi-hued rug work to pull this look cohesively together. Red Coast Construction stained this mantle the most beautiful walnut colour and I’m honestly obsessed with how it turned out.

It’s been a while since I’ve shown myself on here and took the time to re-introduce myself for any new followers. I also figured now is a great time to provide a personal/business update for my existing followers!

My name is Shianna and I am the owner of Home by Design. I started this business about a year and a half ago offering small-scale, e-design services and expanded to offer full-scale interior design services last January. My husband (Red Coast Construction) and I recently finished up a full house renovation for a client, which was our first joint project (hopefully the first of many!).

I work part-time at interior design as I also work full-time in health care. My husband and I are excited to be welcoming our first (human) baby into this world in early December, so I will be taking some time off from my business. I will still be checking my socials and responding to emails during this time, so please feel free to reach out if you have any inquires!

Guest bathroom transformation details 🤍

The clients’ goal was to bring this bathroom up to date while making the space feel more open and bright for guests to enjoy.

We kept the structure the same, but updated all (and yes I mean ALL) of the fixtures and finishes- new flooring, paint, doors and hardware, custom vanity, tap ware, toilet, tub, tiled the shower walls, light fixture, and finishes!

Had some fun last weekend picking out fabrics for custom banquet seating upholstery at VEN Design and finishings for a custom sofa, dining table and dining chairs at !

In 2022, Shianna Cormier, an Occupational Therapist by trade, took the leap and started her own business.

Her company, Home by Design, is a full-service business providing interior design and e-design packages.

I finished my interior design diploma course last month and have been working really hard on the business side of things to prepare for this expansion.
