In Genesis 8:11 it says “ 11 And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth.”

The olive tree and olive branch have been symbols of peace and reconciliation ever since the account of Noah’s flood. When the dove brought Noah “a plucked olive leaf in its beak,” the olive branch represented new life sprouting on the earth.

I think it’s a great reminder that yes extending an olive branch (making an offer of peace) can be extremely hard and difficult to do on a day to day basis, navigating through marriage, work life, family, friends and parenthood, extending an olive branch is something we will have to continue to do in our day to day lives. But something beautiful comes from it, reconciliation and that leads to new life. In any circumstance. And that is beautiful.

Challenging myself and you today, to extend an olive branch where you need to & see where it may take you. 🕊

Olive + Elm has officially launched and I am so excited to share it with you guys!!

A little bit about Olive + Elm —

My name is Danielle Wells, I am a mama, entrepreneur & the founder of Olive + Elm.
It all started when my husband and I ventured over to Spain for our honeymoon — we were surrounded by the beautiful Spanish Olive Trees and it sparked the love I have for them. What I did not love was the price when looking to purchase a faux Olive Tree, and the effort it takes to keep a real one alive.
So that is what encouraged me to make my own Olive Tree.

In Gen. 8:11 The Dove returned to Noah’s Ark carrying an olive branch in His beak

Since that time, The olive branch has been a symbol of “peace” to the world, and we often hear the expression, “extending an olive branch” to another person as a desire for peace.

I want to extend an Olive Tree to you as a desire for Peace, in a world that has been chaotic & full of “noise” the past couple of years, I hope these Olive Trees can bring peace & a little bit of joy to your home!
