Our MEP students had the chance to see a firetruck up close. They explored the different tools, sat in the truck, and met Sparky. They had so much fun!

Ms. Melanie's grade 6 students had a virtual experiment from Scientists in Schools and learned all about Genetic Diversity! We learned all about how the makings of our parents genetics create their children's genetics and ended by creating our own DNA molecules!!! Thank you, Scientist Sarah!

Ms. Hannah’s grade 5/6 students used their artistic abilities to create a keyhole using their imagination. They then wrote stories to describe what is being represented in the keyhole. Great work 5/6 Immersion!

The candy sale will take place again tomorrow! 😃

Two of our “Cubs” represented Sacred Heart as finalists in the YourTV Youth Achievement Awards at a special event held on Wednesday night at the Civic Complex. If you have COGECO TV, be sure to check out our very own Shamus and Sophia as they were presented as finalists for the “Kindess is Cool” award.
Both students were awarded a few tokens from the Optimist Club of Cornwall, including certificates signed by our MPP and brand new Amazon Fire tablets.
An extra special congratulations to Shamus, who won in his category and division. We are so proud of you both! 💙❤️

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Sommerville & Mrs. Pam’s class fully enjoyed their Teddy Bear Picnic at Meadowvale Park.

Candy Sale This Thursday! 🍭 🍬

Ms. Hannah’s grade 5/6 class had the opportunity to take part in a wonderful workshop today, on air and flying. This workshop was presented by Scientifiques à l’école and gave students a hands-on experience to build a parachute and an airplane.

"Ms Melanie's grade 6 students concluded their science unit on Flight and created their own parachute from recycled items. We tested the parachutes today with some eggs and only 6 eggs broke!! Great work, everyone!!"

Ms. Emma's class, along with Mrs. Antoniak's and Mrs. Chelsea's class, had the opportunity to read with Mrs. Benton's Grade 9 students from St. Joes, using the books they created.

Ms. Hannah’s grade 4 class had the opportunity to take part in a wonderful workshop today on building simple machines. This workshop was presented by Scientifiques à l’école and gave students a hands-on experience to build a lever, pulley and gears.

Our Sacred Heart Ultimate Frisbee team had a blast today at St. Peter’s. They may not have won any of their games but they played hard and worked together as a team. Way to go, Cubs!

Our MEP class had a wonderful time at Ahoy today! ❤️

Our Kindergarten students enjoyed a truly wonderful trip to the Brockville Aquatarium today!

According to several students, it was the best day ever!

Kindergarten students in Ms. Deborah and Mrs. L’s class released their Painted Lady butterflies on Friday. The students learned all about the butterfly life cycle over the last few weeks and they watched the transformation from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly with awe. 🦋

We had some very happy new pet owners at Sacred Heart today! ❤️

Our 2nd annual Adopt-a-pet was a huge success! Many thanks to our amazing volunteers, Nancy Dunning and Julia M. for their help!

Thanks also to all who donated stuffies and to Nancy for making the tags!

Next year, we hope to hold an even bigger event. If you are trying to downsize stuffies, we will accept gently used ones at any time. 😊

🐱2nd Annual ADOPT-A-PET tomorrow🐶

Students in ASD, MEP, Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2, can bring $ to adopt a pet (stuffed).

Students are really looking forward to adopting their new pets! 🐵🐷🐹

Mrs. Archambault's class has had an awesome opportunity to have a teacher candidate from Queen's University, Mme. Emma. She has led them in their Space unit and done some fun activities! Later this week they will launch homemade rockets!

Mr. C, Miss Emma and Mme. Marcil’s classes went to Valleyview Little Animal Farm yesterday. They enjoyed playing on the old farm equipment, getting a train ride around the crop fields and, of course, petting and feeding the goats and sheep!

Mrs. Sommerville & Mrs. Pam’s Kinders have been having fun learning with camping themed activities. They built a campsite in their dramatic play area and have completed several STEM activities related to camping. Students experimented with objects that sink or float and discussed density. Teams figured out the best ways to place sleeping bags in a tent in order to fit the most in (coloured foam photos) and then created tent frames using various manipulatives. Students have also been learning about several life cycles (plants & flowers, worms and butterflies). It’s been amazing watching students work together and think out loud as they design and problem-solve!

The countdown to summer has begun!!
In Mrs. Henry and Ms. Kim’s class, it was the first day of their alphabet countdown. Letter A today was for animals.
They did a super fun science experiment to learn about bird beaks. They used different tools to pick up different ‘foods’, then looked at pictures of birds to see which tool was most like their beak. They thought about what the birds might be picking up with their beak by thinking about what the tool was able to pick up. So fun!

They followed up with some animal art and an animal game.

The Hope Festival was an absolute blast! What a great way to end the week!
