Art Across Our Island

Facebook is a great way to reach out to people. Could we Island artists/painters reinvent the studio tour this Fall? Remember the tour in days past? We should at least discuss ways to get visitors out to our working studios to see how and where and why we make art. Let me know what you think please.

Well can I use this page to post images for my Seniors College Drawing class? We will soon find out. Facebook is used for promotion by many artists in one way or another. Let's see how easy it is to do this.

It's been very busy for me lately. Summer 2022 was a great start to plein air painting with new and old painting pals. I enjoyed our session in Clyde River and charming Georgetown greatly. My mind is currently imagining an Autumn Colors Paint Out in upper Bonshaw park in 2023. Would anybody come out to that?

Should we have another plein air paint out in the Spring? Or are we brave enough for a winter session? Snow laden trees are a delight.JMP

I sent an email down to Kings Playhouse regarding plans for next summer. Please keep working in your sketchbooks now and then. Maybe we can work in a sketchbook show and tell as part of the plein air days. JMP

Thanks again to everyone who helped make Georgetown Plein Air a wonderful day of learning and sharing. Our next outing will be in September at Glenaladale. Date and time to be arranged. Afew more days of summer to enjoy and then our beautiful Fall. Sketchbook show still in the works. JMP

We had our grand day out painting at Georgetown Plein Air with The Kings Playhouse. Georgetown is so paintable but we spent most of the afternoon in the extensive gardens. We hope to do this again next year, bigger and better. Thanks everyone for supporting our project and a big thankyou to the staff at the Playhouse for welcoming us all day and treating us at the end.

You might be interested to know that Art Across Our Island is co-hosting a plein air painting event with the The Kings Playhouse in charming Georgetown on August 7th. We have three outstanding instructors lined up and are offering three different sessions Linda Shaw Packard, Julia Purcell Parlour Art Gallery & Studio and Grace Curtis Fine Art. Each session will cover the foundations of painting but emphasize a different approach. We've got loose and spontaneous, we have thoughtful and fearless and we have beautiful and simple. And it was another grand day out together in Victoria by the Sea. See the intense group working up watercolors of the lighthouse in their sketchbooks. Thanks gals. And we toured the pink house from the very top to bottom. And took Jamie Fox and Laurence McAuley up on the widows walk for some sightseeing. Only on PEI. Hope to see you in Georgetown on Aug 7th.

We all love Victoria-by-the-Sea PE so much that Art Across Our Island has planned a new paint out date for Wednesday July 14th starting at 9:30 to 1pm. Let's gather in the parking lot on the waterfront and be ready to paint by 9:30 am. Lots to see and do in the little village. All are welcome. Hope to see you there. Bring your supplies and an easel too if you have one. A lawn chair would be nice too. Our next big date is Aug 7th in Georgetown with Kings Playhouse!

Art Across Our Island has a plein air event scheduled for Friday July 9th in Victoria by the Sea. The weather may not cooperate but fingers crossed and we might be Ok. Think about our group doing something to support this important activity: art making in a refugee camp in Jordan.

I had an very interesting morning down at The Kings Playhouse at the opening of an art show call Rahma & Friends: Art Will See Us Through and co-hosted with World Vision Canada. The youth artists are Rahma, a young refugee living in Jordan and the other is local teenager Lauren Graham, both of whom love to draw and paint. The civil war in Syria is ten years old now and the human suffering continues. Proceeds from the sale of the art will be used to purchase art supplies for the children living in the camps. You might like to take a look and help support this wonderful cause through your purchase.

It was a grand day out in Bonshaw Plein Air 2021 . Laughter and learning together. Until the next time.
