Are you ready to start saving for your first home?

Canada has introduced a First Home Savings Account (FHSA), in which you can start contributing to as of April 1, 2023.

You can contribute up to $8,000 per year and up to a maximum of $40,000 total.

Your contributions are deductible on your tax return, like RRSPs, but the contribution period goes from Jan 1-Dec 31 (although this year, it will be Apr 1-Dec 31, as the program starts this year).

You can even transfer money from your RRSP to your FHSA (without deduction credit on your tax return).

Please share so others are aware and can benefit from this on their 2023 tax return and forward.
