The name 'Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome' (PCOS), is actually quite misleading.
Yes a classic sign of pcos is the 'string of pearls' visible on an ultrasound (cysts) but you do not need to have cysts to be diagnosed. It's only one thing out of a list of three that is currently being used by professionals.
Another thing I learned... you can have cysts come and go.
I had the classic string of pearls in my late teens and by the time I had another ultrasound in my late 20's they were all gone. I was blown away!
Have you been told you have pcos purely based on an ultrasound?
Be sure to request blood work and discuss symptoms with your doctor !
