Saturday Feb.18, at (6804 144 avenue), from 9:00am-2pm, The NBCC & Edmonton Stingers are offering a FREE city wide camp and tournament, uplifting the Black community and our friends, while connecting our youth to multiple generations of Black excellence in the game of Basketball. Our camp and tourney will feature community coaches, and will be organized and ran by the Edmonton Stingers official community ambassador: Mr. Andrew G. Parker (BA, BEd, MEd 2023). The NBA All star weekend also falls on the day of our event and on Saturday afternoon of the BHASW we will host similar events via the Stingers, coach Parker & the NBCC. Our event will host up to 120 children, ages 6-17, (60 elementary kids, 50 Jr high & high school athletes), and we will offer a full day camp as well as a JR high and High school mini tournament (For Free).

In addition to basketball, our camp and tournament will also feature the NBCC All Star Community Brunch held in the Lazerte High School cafeteria (from 1:00pm-2:00pm). The Stingers have committed to providing official Black History All Star Weekend t-shirts for each camper. Parents & siblings are more than welcome to stay for the whole event, and some of our elders in the community will be guest speakers and guest coaches as well. We will have 7 awards for the campers in elementary camp. Each award is named after Basketball Legends from the Black community in Edmonton. The winners of the awards will be treated to a Edmonton Stingers game/court side experience including a meal & tickets. The winners of the Jr high & high school 3x3 tourney will receive wonderful prizes courtesy of the Edmonton Stingers Professional basketball team. The Edmonton Stingers will have a strong presence throughout the event, a booth will be present, and similar activities from their 2023 high school showcase will be held.

Hello family, just giving a heads up, the tournament is happening this Saturday August 13 & Sunday August 14. Today is our in-person registration day but the last day to register is Thursday August 11. We have an amazing line up on Saturday starting with a visit from the mayor of Edmonton, a live concert series, lunch provided by Graham’s Jerkhouse, the 3 point competition and the ever popular Slam Dunk Competition! And most importantly we’ll have the Pride of the North Community Market ALL Saturday August 13, so make sure to pop in and support some of the best local businesses in the city.

It’s my extreme pleasure to announce that the Pride of the NORTHSIDE 4x4 tourney is returning after a 2 year hiatus! We’ll be celebrating 13 years of community, hoops & outreach, August 13/14, 2022! We plan to host 30 teams, multiple divisions, sponsors & spectators.


Next week we will have our official launch including a brand new website, registration forms, and volunteer opportunities. For now, start forming your teams, choosing divisions & if you’d like to sponsor teams or the tournament please contact me directly on any platform for all details.

Also to all parents, community members, coaches, referees, elders, if you’d like to connect this week before the launch, let’s do it! Friday at 5:30pm is the main court set up (come by to test out the main court before the tourney starts, or volunteer your muscles for our court set up :) .

Saturday at 9am is the beginning of the Round Robin games.

We are expecting 40-50 kids this year and we will host the camp at M.E.Lazerte in Edmonton (6804 144 avenue). Our camp offers skills, motivation, court knowledge, explosive training and an affordable high level experience that benefits boys and girls, ages 9-18 in the city of champions. We’ve already had a number of campers register from last years’ group and the number continues to grow daily.

Teams have been confirmed. Tourney schedule has been posted. All team captains, coaches and parents have been emailed the full run down of the weekend. Nets will be set up today at 6pm, Best of luck to everyone tomorrow!

Today is the last day to register for the tournament. After today schedules will be made and posted to www.andrewgparker.com If you have already registered and paid your team fees online (or if your team has been sponsored) you will not need to come to londonderry courts for in-person registration. Your captain will receive the schedule in an email first and then the full schedule will be posted at noon tomorrow. There are 3 guaranteed round robin games on Saturday. Sunday will be the playoffs and the championship. Playoffs are single elimination.

If you have not paid your fees the deadline to pay will be tonight at 8pm. The website has an official look at all of the teams involved this year. REMINDER: If you are in the wrong division or you have registered players that are no longer on your team you need to email [email protected] immediately before tomorrow’s rosters, schedules and teams are posted.

REMINDER: Please look at the tourney and contest rules online and review them before your games start on saturday. Teams are more than welcome to bring their own team jerseys and at least one reversible jersey.
